vanish your ego. For purpose do you think you are making zikr, keeping to your awrad, praying at night and fasting in the day? Still the evil and dirty ego sits on your back and with every step you take, it says, “I am here, I am here, I am here.” Therefore you are on the lowest level. Manifestation (ithbat) or Vanishing (ifna) the ego is the point. The murid should decide between one of these two. If he leaves his ego, he will be with his Sheikh, with the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sal) and with Allah Almighty. In the Human there is nafs (ego). The animals have nafs also, but their nafs are only for controlling themselves and their off spring. The animal’s nafs is used as an instinct. Without it they would not even be able to eat. The wish or desire, to eat, drink, and to continue their species, comes from nafs. But the ego (nafs) is a test for humankind, so that they may win high stations, (or not). Who resists the ego reaches to higher Sriritual Stations- Maqams. There is something to gain. Everyone must ask for more power to save their spirituality and souls from their egos imprisonment. The ego is assaulting our spiritual being and is never leaving it to take heavenly support, or to reach to the level of Real Believers. Therefore we are in need at occasion, to ask for much more support, and food for our spirituality. Our Naqshabandi way is not for everyone, because not everyone can hold it. To become a Naqshabandi, you must wage war with and break down your nafs, making it to be zero. If anyone takes their nafs under their control, they will be called, “Come.” Only a mindless person will insist to go with his donkey to the presence of the Sultan. You cannot! You must leave your nafs. When you say that you have finished with existing, then you can go. Millions of people are saying that they are Naqshbandi, but if you touch them just a little bit, they kick. If you come from behind or in front, they kick and bite! If you don’t leave your donkey, you cannot become Naqshbandi, which is a hard discipline, and nothing less. (So you are not there). If you are representing you own nafs, there is nothing to take, and they might as well

send you to the stable, to be with the horses and donkeys, who are stamping on the ground, and moving their heads around. Don’t kick other people. Don’t argue and fight with people, and don’t interfere with other peoples affairs. Be busy with your own nafs. Don’t say that you are better than anyone. Anyone who says this belongs in the stable. You must accept all people. People of every kind. Allah is creating as He likes, and He can create anyone in any way. So you must look to the Creator and like what He has created. Allah liked it and created it, so you must say that you like it also. You must bring down your nafs. You don’t know who is who and what secrets they have. If someone is tied to his nafs, we may easily see their bad side. But you must forget that and look inside for the jewel. Don’t just accept the bad side and look to the reality of the nafs. Remember the jewel. Don’t say that you don’t like someone. If you look carefully, you have the same things too. Allah will say, “You rejected that servant, when you also had the same values.”You rejected him, but you couldn’t even throw those same things awayfrom yourself. Be busy to find the goodness in each other. Then the way to Allah becomes closer and shorter. You may reach. The doors will be opened for you. If not you will remain with your ego (nafs). If Allah did not give value to that person, He would not have created him. It is not the way to find someone’s bad things and to bring them out. This does not free you from your nafs. Don’t think that in the presence of Allah you are more valuable. All people are against each other, not liking each other, jealous of each other, or enemies of each other. But in reality they are all the same. Don’t let your nafs get in front of you, or they will take you to the sewers, to become a rat. All Prophets invited people to a clean and honourable life. Your egos are like rats that say, “What are we doing in clean water?” “Our water is sewage.” Twentieth century people are against Prophets, especially the Last Prophet Muhammad (sal), because he is inviting us to clean waters. All people are making themselves to be high up, and not on the earth. They claim, “I am higher than you”, and the other one

says, “No, I am higher than you.” Both of them are speaking through their egos only. People of this life are competing amongst themselves, to be higher in the material world. Allah Almighty does not likes this. No. He likes that we compete with each other for being closer to His Divine Presence. Simple life gives satisfaction to the soul. We must be happy to sleep on the floor. We must be happy to be altogether. We must be happy to walk, and we must be happy with what we are facing from other people. I am trying to change the power, from the hands of your ego, to your spirituality. Really our nafs (ego) was created not to harm ourselves. No. It is like an electric cable without the protective covering and this may harm you. You cannot touch it and you cannot use it. Therefore you lose the big chance which Allah Almighty grants to you. But with protection we may touch it. If were to ask, “Why is that harmful wire inside,?” and that if you take it out from the plastic, it would have no more use”, then you would have lost that huge power. Our ego (nafs), is such a big grant from Allah Almighty. The Prophet Muhammad (sal) was saying that it is your horse, which you may ride on, to wherever you want to reach. It may take you up to the highest point of creation, but yet you ask, “Why is an ego put inside us?” If we had no ego, we would be like angels. But Allah Almighty was asking to create a new creature, one hundred percent different from Angels. (For a reason, purpose and wisdom.) So He created Adam (alai) and gave him nafs. If He had not have given him nafs, Adam would have been the same as the Angels. Without this nafs, without this horse, you cannot reach to the honour which Allah Almighty granted, to those creatures who have nafs. This is a big wisdom, that must be understood. Allal Almighty says, “Use your ego (nafs), and come to me.” When Abu Yazid Al-Bistami (ral), reached to the Divine Presence, and asked to enter,

http://www.sufismus-online.de/RideYourEgo (7 von 11)04.07.2013 23:32:03

7409 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: RideYourEgo

Allah Almighty said, “O Abu Yazid, now leave your nafs and come to me.” Which also means the main purpose of nafs, is to make you to reach from the lowest level to the highest level. Like a plane takes a person to the destination that they like. If a plane takes you from here to Germany, you cannot then ask the plane to take you to your bedroom. No. The plane says to you that you must come down and walk. It says, “I can’t come.” “My limit finishes here.” “Leave me and go.” Therefore anyone asking to reach to the Divine Presence must use his or her nafs as a horse. But when entering to your Lords Divine Presence, He says, “Leave your horse outside, then come.”Your horse is your nafs. You can’t enter inside a palace to the Royal Presence with your horse. No. If you are able to use your nafs, it will be your servant, up to the Divine Presence. When you arrive howerver, its importance is finished, and you may tell it to go back. (As a plane does, to take new passengers.) The ego is the wildest and most disobedient creature ever created. It has the worst characteristics, which represent the whole animal world within itself. Animals which live close to people, animals from the jungle, and the most terrible and dangerous animals. Their characteristics, all put together, are given to our ego. No creature is more powerful than our ego, and no creature is more useful also. It may take us from the lowest level, to the highest. Yes, it is so dangerous and powerful, and its work is also important. No other means may take mankind from the lowest level to the highest. Allah created nafs and gave them to man and Allah never creates without wisdom. He said, “I created the children of Adam (alai) to be My Deputies.” You know that a Sultan, when he is among his solders, will ride the fastest, most powerful horse (not an old one, or a female one). This is because he is the Sultan. Allah Almighty gave his Deputies, the children of Adam, a most powerful and important steed to ride. He put them on the lowest level, on earth, and said, “Come to me.”This is why the Prophet (sal) said, “Your ego is your ride”.

http://www.sufismus-online.de/RideYourEgo (8 von 11)04.07.2013 23:32:03

7410 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: RideYourEgo

This wisdom is enough for the whole of mankind to understand themelves. But people do not understand, so they fall under the lowest level. They only understand how to eat, drink and enjoy themselves. No one understands. That important ride, was not granted to you only for it to eat, drink and enjoy. No! The Sultan is expecting that you ride on it and come to him. That is the biggest problem in the life of mankind. All people are occupied with their horse. They are making it happy by eating, drinking and enjoying, as much as possible. But no one is asking to ride on it and arrive. Perhaps from ten thousand people, you may find one who understands the wisdom of the ego. The Prophet Muhammad (sal) was riding on his heavenly ride, the Buraq, on his Night Journey. When he reached to the Divine Presence, he asked Gibril (alai), “Is there also such a ride for my ummah? Gibril answered, “Yes.” “And if they ride on it, they may also arrive, and reach to what you are reaching.” So then, that dangerous and powerful one, our ego, is our Buraq. But people do not understand, and they are not using it. All Prophets were calling people in this direction. Do you understand?! It is the door or entrance to Al Wisdom. You may go inside and take every power. If not, you will remain under the hegemony of your ego, which will grind you, and make you to finally be dust through the cemetery. But those knights, who are riding their horses, through the cemetery, the earth will not grind them, and they will arrive on the day of resurrection with the same body, which will shine like the sun. The person who uses his mind should reach to that station. Why are you waiting?! The Sultan is looking after you. Why not prepare yourself for His Divine Presence? Allah Almighty hears everything, and He is looks and sees who you are, and what your intention or purpose is. When you are objecting, He understands that your ego is claiming to be number one through all creatures, and that it wants all its commands to be obeyed. That is the secret to the hidden reality of your ego, when it asks, “Why did this happen?” What it means through heavens, is that servant, is asking that Lordship

7411 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: RideYourEgo

be for himself. He is not happy with the Lordship of the Lord of the Heavens and he believes that he can think more perfectly. He says, “What I am thinking regarding that situation is better than what happened.” Astagfirullah! Those who always blame other people, and who do not like their actions and attributes, are the slaves of their egos. Someone who is asking for a way to perfection, must begin to blame himself, and look to his own imperfections, without looking to the imperfections of others. Only an imperfect one may look and see imperfection around himself. Who has imperfection, sees in everyone imperfection, except for himself. This is selfishness. You must try to correct yourself. When you have corrected yourself and reached to perfection, you will only blame yourself. (Your ego or nafs). We hope not to live for our pleasure, but for Allah’s pleasure. We like life for Allah, not for our egos. No. If I am asking to live for my ego, I would rather pass away, but for Allah, I like to live. Always ask for protection from your ego (nafs). We have been created weak and our ego carries us, as it likes. The ego in everyone’s physical being represents Shaitan. When one leaves childhood, and enters into maturity, the Lord of heavens says, “Now you must be my servant.” “Follow.” Shaitan says, “Don’t follow,” and he has a better chance of being obeyed, because he addresses your physical desires, and says, “You shall fulfill unlimited desires, don’t listen to those who say, don’t do this and that. I say, absolute freedom for you, even until you die.” Our biggest enemy is Shaitan, and his representative through yourself, which is your ego. Beware of shaitan. Beware of your ego. Shaitan is asking to mix up our good thoughts and inspirations, which come to our hearts. When we want to do something good, Shaitan wants to destroy it, so that we don’t benefit. (or raise our level of development, which is endless). Shaitan makes you do the opposite of Divine Laws. It cheats you again and again, and you say that it does not. Terrible! You say, “I am ok,” “In perfection.” Astagfirullah! For every step, there will be so many obstacles, preventing you from reaching to

http://www.sufismus-online.de/RideYourEgo (10 von 11)04.07.2013 23:32:03

7412 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: RideYourEgo

Reality. When it is difficult to reach Reality, Shaitan quickly finds a way to cheat you. (with artificial things and mind productions.) He teaches people, and tells them, “This is Reality.” If we do not break the chains of desire, then always we shall be slaves. If you are a slave of your ego, then automatically you are a slave for dunya, Shaitan, and your physical desires. It cannot be only for the ego, because they are all connected. If one is catching hold of you as a slave, then you are a slave of them all. If you are freed and saved from your ego, then you cannot be cheated by Shaitan, and then you will not be heedless enough to fall into the hands of your ego. When your say, “Auzo billahi mina shaitan ir rajim,”( I seek refuge in Allah from the cursed Shaitan), it really means, that you are asking Allah Almighty for protection.

Riding The Horse

Salamun Alaikum, all those who are present. Ay yaran Shah Mardan, May your day be good. May your affairs be good. May we end up with goodness. Let's say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r- Rahim May blessings come upon us! Let's live for Allah(jj)! Let's perform servanthood to Allah! There is nothing beyond this! There is nothing beyond our Lord's Pleasure! The way of pleasing our Lord passes through the Sultanu l-Anbiya. If you can please our Prophet(sws), Janabul Haqq is pleased with you. Radi Allahu 'anhum wa Radu 'Anh. RadiAllahu 'anhum wa Radu 'anh. Allah(jj) is pleased with them. That is why the companions of our Prophet are all, RadiAllahu 'anhum. Janabul Haqq is pleased with them; Wa Radu 'Anhu. and they are pleased with their Lord. O our Lord, if we can't be pleased with You, who else can we be pleased with? Ay yaran Shah Mardan! Marhaba. May you be in prosperity. Marhaba. May you not be in poverty. May our day come with happiness. Let's say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim, Basmala Sharif. SubhanAllah. It is the key for all the treasures. Shah Mardan, is declaring to his friends that, if you recite Basmala Sharif, all the doors of goodness open. RadiAllahu 'anhum wa radu 'anh. When we mention the Name of the Lord, Jalla wa 'Ala, RadiAllahu 'anhum, Allah(jj) is pleased with us. "Nasu Allaha Fanasiyahum."(9:67) What is the biggest problem, may it be far away from us? It is to forget Allah Dhul Jalal. Please go on Shah Mardan, your friends admire you. With your holy words, relief comes, our beings revive, distress goes away and our honor increases. Please Shah Mardan go on, the arena is yours. We kiss your feet and stirrup. We ask help from you! Ask help from great people. Demand help from the owner of great door. Please Shah Mardan go on! He who asks for help, in which way should he ask? The way of adab(manners). The way of adab is the key for all the treasury. It is adab that makes us approach Allah Dhul

Jalal, to His Habib Kibriya, to Shah Mardan. Ill mannered ones are expelled. Good mannered ones are accepted. That is why, Our Prophet (saws) declared, "Addabani Rabbi". He didn't say "Allamani" but "Addabani". One of the holy ones in old times said: "I searched through the assemblies of wisdom, wisdom is last, Adab/good manners comes first, adab first." One cannot approach the Lord with knowledge but one can approach with adab. Allah(jj) showed us the best manners in His Habib(sws). Shah Mardan learned from the Prophet and told his ummah of these manners. Allahumma Zid'hu 'Izzan wa Sharafan, Nuran wa Sururan, wa Ridwanan wa Sultanan. Allah Allah Allah Allah. A Human, when he forgets his humanity, becomes a satan. Today's people have forgotten their humanity. Whenever humanity is forgotten, either human or satanic ... Human or satan? satan is a kind of creation. The deputy that Janabul Haqq created, is different. He has the highest rank. The Deputy, the children of Adam are assigned as deputies, as a new creation. satan was among the Angels but it was rebellious to its Lord when it wasn't given what it asked for. It wanted the rank (of deputy). -"No! I don't have to give this to you". "I give to whoever I want. You are given the station established for you. Don't interfere in My business" the Lord said. Don't interfere in My business. Allah Dhul Jalal Jalla Jalaluhu, Jalla 'Azamatuhu: "Don't interfere in My business". "You are a servant. If you interfere, you will be deprived of servanthood." satan was persistent. It said, "I will interfere. "I should have been the one given that rank. You didn't give it to me." “Go away. You learned knowledge but not manners” (the Lord said). Janabul Haqq said to the Angels to kick (shaytan) away from His door. They kicked satan out. In this Presence, in My Presence there cannot be rebels. "The Command is Mine. The Judgement is Mine" "Al Hukm Lillahi Al 'Aliyu l-Kabir." Allahu Akbar. People keep forgetting. They think judgement is theirs. No! There are so many Mighty Angels but they tremble in front of the Mightiness of Allah(jj). They tremble with fear not to be expelled from the Divine Presence. satan behaved very badly. It said 'me'. - "Don't speak in My Presence. "I am Your Lord who created you. "I have granted this much to you! "You didn't accept My Sovereignty, but you claim your own sovereignty, no!" To train people with manners; this is showing the honor of mankind. "Wa Laqad Karramna Bani Adama".(17:70) He doesn't say Bani Jinn...or, doesn't say Angels either. The respected rank that is not given to anyone else, honor and Sultanate, Allah said: I gave to My servant Adam

7415 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: RidingTheHorse

whom I created. All Angels are ordered to prostrate. All prostrated and said: You are our Lord. You are, "Fa'alun Lima Yuridu" (11:107) "You do as You like. The absolute Judgment is Yours, O Lord. Who are we to go against You, O Lord! May You forgive us!" They trembled. satan was a servant. It wanted to go beyond servanthood. What is there beyond servanthood, Hajji? In the presence of Allah, what is there beyond servanthood? O My servants fear Me! "Inna 'Ardi Wasi'atun Fa'iyaya Fa'buduni" (29:56) Allahu Akbar. How beautiful! The Majestic addressing! Notice this Hajji! Look to the Majesty of the Qur'an Al-Karim! Allah Dhul Jalal, Aman Ya Rabbi! Tawba Ya Rabbi! Who are we? Who are we? One who knows his limits is the one who has wisdom. Unless we know ourselves, we have no value, my son! Know yourselves. Rabbul Izzat, Janabul Haqq, says: "I am Your Lord, so worship Me. "I am your Lord, worship Me." Our Lord is the Possessor of Absolute Mightiness. Allah, Allah! Wisdom is essential before knowledge. Ma'rifatullah (Divine knowledge). Where does Ma'rifat lead to? To Adab, Sheikh Mehmet Effendi! Watch this! These are the main principles. On the basis of this, humans have said either our Lord or our ego. Who are you? Please go on Shah Mardan, inform these people who we are, these so-called humans! O Shah Mardan! your friends admire you! How beautifully you are speaking! May our hearts open! May our bodies revive. "Therefore worship Me."(29:56) "Certainly, spacious is My earth." (29:56) "My Divine throne is wide". When the Divine throne is said to be wide, it means there are no limits. "Deity/Divinity only suits Me. I am your Lord. You are My servants". This reality must be known. One must know this or else he will go where satan goes. Please Shah Mardan go on. He rides his horse to the arena. When Shah Mardan rides to the arena, there can't be a rider to oppose him. He used to ride on Duldul, Sheikh Mehmet Effendi. He wasn't riding a horse but Duldul. Duldul (a mule), hasha animal...An animal between a donkey and a horse. He used to ride it. Why? Because it was good enough for him. Pride comes to the one who rides a horse. That is why Sultans ride horses but not donkeys. Who has the right to ride a horse? He who can ride his ego, can ride a horse. They are Sultans. But one doesn't become important by riding a horse. That is, riding a horse doesn't make one a Sultan. A horse is a sign pointing to the Sultan. The horse is the majestic one among all creatures. That is why every Sultan rode a horse. They didn't ride donkeys. Hasha minal hudur. Sultans didn't ride donkeys. No! They rode horses. Riding horses, has two meanings. One

http://www.sufismus-online.de/RidingTheHorse (3 von 15)04.07.2013 23:32:05

7416 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: RidingTheHorse

meaning is that the robe of sovereignty has been assumed. Second meaning is that he was able to ride (take control of) his ego, and was rewarded. The Sultan rides a horse. Who is Sultan? He is the one who rides the donkey of his ego. Not every horse rider is a Sultan. Ay yaran Shah Mardan, MashAllah! Ya! If every horse rider is Sultan, there would be many of them. No! Not everyone can be a Sultan. One who can ride the animal of the ego becomes a Sultan, then a horse is given to him. One can't ride a horse before riding a donkey. Before breaking the pride of the ego's donkey, no one can be Sultan. Watch this word! Please Shah Mardan go on. Without taming the donkey of the ego, one can't be a Sultan. He can't ride a horse unless he is Sultan. The horse has been created among all creatures, for the sanctified children of Adam, for their service, honor, and as a sign of Sultanate. MashaAllah. Please Shah Mardan go on. Allah Allah. satan was riding donkey. Janab Allah created the Prophet Adam. He created the horse too. This horse belongs to you. satan was riding a donkey. satan said, it didn't want its donkey. It wanted to ride the horse. This is where the conflict comes from. "I don't want to ride a donkey. You created him (Adam), You gave him Sultanate, as a sign of Sultanate You created the horse and placed him on the horse. I am still on a donkey" satan says. The donkey is for you since you are a donkey Hasha minal hudur, satan! It is your station that donkey is set for you. It doesn't like to ride a donkey. It said I don't like these words. It said I don't like. May dogs listen, hasha minal hudur. It doesn't make a difference if an unbeliever likes it or not. Nobility, sultanate is for the children of Adam who have faith. It is not given to everyone. Angels didn't object but prostrated immediately. They said "This is Sultan". Other than Divine Sultanate, the Sultan Allah Dhul Jalal created for ruling the Earth is different. Divine Sultanate, is Janab Rabul Izzat's whose Majesty is unlimited. The Sultanate on Earth is given to Adam. He created the horse. He said ride the horse and rule on His behalf. What is the cause of the troubles people are facing? Hajji Mehmet. "I don't like it. I don't obey the Shariah Allah sent. It said, I don't like. It must be said, may the donkey leave dirt on its head. Shaytan said I don't like, I don't like. May the donkey leave its dirt on what shaytan likes. Hasha minal hudur. O Allah! Our Lord whose Mightiness and Magnificence are unlimited. "Fa'alun Lima Yuridu" (11:107) You do what You like, You are the Lord. Who are we to speak in Your Presence?

7417 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: RidingTheHorse

Not everyone riding a horse is a Sultan. There are many people riding donkeys, and so they became donkeys. Most of the people today are riding donkeys, Hajji Mehmet. By riding a donkey, what have they become like? They became donkeys. They bray, scream, kick each other, and fight. They have lost their humanity and they became donkeys. If they were on a human level, the rank given to them by Janab Allah, is to be deputies on Earth. What does this mean? Sheikh Mehmet, listen carefully! "Wa Idh Qala Rabbuka Lil mala'ikati Inni Ja'ilun Fi l-Ardi Khalifatan"(2:30) Angels bent their heads downwards. Allah! Allah Dhul Jalal Ya Rabbi! You do as you like. Who are we? That is why it is said: "One who knows his limits is the one who has wisdom". People passed beyond their limits, beyond all limits. They have lost their value. Given Sultanate, people didn't like it, but when satan called them to its way, saying to act as it did, what they did, turned the world into a fireball. "Wa La Taqtulu Anfusakum" (4:29) Do not kill each other! Illa bil Haqq. Except when it is deserved. This is the order of Shariat! You cannot interfere beyond this. O our Lord, Jalla Jalaluhu Jallat 'Azamatuhu wala Ilaha Ghayruhu. You are Subhan. You are Subhan, You are Sultan. Give us strength, O Lord! May we not depart from Your way, Ya Rabbi! May we not struggle for the world! May we busy ourselves with servanthood. Please Shah Mardan go on. Yes, we were not created for serving the world. People are heedless of this. They became servants of dunya. Being servants of dunya, they have lost their honor. Today's people have no honor! In the Angelic Realm, today's people have no honor. They are dishonorable creatures. Aman Ya Rabbi. Aman Ya Rabbi.O Shah Mardan, your words are complete truth. When service & servanthood to the Lord is forgotten, what value does a human have? One gains no value by riding a horse, wearing gold ornamented dresses, living in golden palaces. Only when you guard your adab to the One who has created you - as the Prophet (saws), said: "addabani Rabbi", how well he taught manners to us. My Lord gave me manners. That is why "Adab Ya Hu" used to be written and hung everywhere. Watch this! May everyone learn it and hang this statement in their homes. It reminds people of their humanity. It reminds people of the sacred duty of humanity! "Adab Ya Hu". Watch your manners to Allah(jj)! Watch Adab! - No I won't keep adab. I won't ride a donkey, I will ride a horse But you don't deserve to ride a horse. You are incapable of controlling even a donkey. You can't dominate your donkey! How can you want the Sultan's ride? How can you claim the Sultan's ride? You are incapable of controlling

your own donkey! The Sovereignty, that will prevail in the Angelic realm, how could it be given to you? Tawba Ya Rabbi, tawba astagfirullah! Give us strength Shah Mardan, Masha'Allah! How beautifully he is expressing it! What beautiful information! This is the trouble into which people have sunk, Sheikh Mehmet Effendi! They claim a empty honor and a pointless sovereignty. No! Ay Yaran Shah Mardan! He says to learn! Ay yaran Shah Mardan, the holy one, Shah Mardan says to learn adab. "Addabani Rabbi".
