time of the Seal of Prophets, Sayyidina Muhammad (s), (Mawlana Shaykh stands) everything just changed. (Mawlana Shaykh sits) Now we are living in a time that steps of people are not going endlessly. Because you know, O Salafi `ulamas, hillal, the crescent of Ramadan, for example, in it's first night, is a very thin crescent and then in the second night it is going to be more. Then in the third, fourth, and until the fifteenth of Ramadan, or of any other month, you are looking that it is a full moon with a perfect appearance. Adam (a) declared to people one page, and it was enough for his son. Then when he passed, coming on behalf of him was his son Seth (a), and that heavenly noor, light, was growing. Seth (a) was granted more than ten pages coming for people living on Earth. Then others were coming, coming, coming and people were getting more and more and more because they were in need; needy for a full moon.

In the appeareance of every prophet, heavenly lights were granted to people a little bit more, and then reaching to Moses (a). In his time there was a crescent, perhaps it was a half-crescent, but it was enough. Then Allah Almighty sent Jesus Christ (a), who came with other heavenly lights and tried to spread that noor among people with such powerful karaamat, miracles, bcause he was mubashshir, giving good tidings for the coming of the Seal of Prophets (s)! Therefore, he was granted such strong miracles with perfect understanding, that it would be impossible to refuse, because he was giving good tidings for the Last One, for the Best One, for the Perfect One! And the Children of Israel could not carry that, not even a person giving good tidings, mubashshir. They said, "We are not accepting you," and they did what was worst for them: they tried to take away the mubashshir who is giving good tidings for the full moon! We are not saying they tried to "kill" him, but they were asking to take him away. They may take his physical being, but they can’t touch his real being as it brings good tidings for the Last One. That is the reason the Children of Israel were asking for Moses (a) to be the last one, and not even for everyone, to be only for the Children of Israel! And the Lord of Heavens gave His Divinely Heavenly Grants to all nations, so why try prevent it? It can't be. And they did their worst for Jesus Christ (a). Allah Almighty took Jesus Christ (a) up and he disappeared. But to amuse themselves they brought a cross, put one person on it and said, "Now we killed him; he is finished!" Astaghfirullah. Sayyidina Moses (peace be upon him) was very angry with the Children of Israel, saying, "Don't put anything from your understanding on revelations coming to me from Heavens! Why are you doing that? I am leaving you and going away!" He took them to the Sahara Desert, because Moses' teachings were not enough for the coming generations. The Seal of Prophets, Sayyidina Muhammad (s) came (Mawlana Shaykh stands and sits) as a full moon, a perfect form. After the full moon you cannot imagine there is another perfect form. Therefore, if all the nations continue up to Eternity that full moon is enough for everyone; no need to look at this or that one! O our Listeners! Use your mentality a little bit. You must know that everyone is asking to learn something and you must ask, as Allah Almighty is saying: (Mawlana Shaykh stands) Fasa'l bihi khabeeraa, Then ask about Him of any acquainted (with such things). (25:59)

O our Salafi `ulamas! Fasa'l bihi khabeeraa! Ayatul kareema or kalaamu 'n-naas? Holy verse or not? (Mawlana Shaykh sits) As you are claiming, "We are Salafi `ulamas," give me an explanation. More than an explanation, give me commentary about Fasa'l bihi khabeeraa! Who is Allah Almighty addressing? You are `ulamas, so tell us! Fasa'l bihi khabeeraa, three words like three oceans! This is important, three words from one holy verse. Say the meaning! I am knowing nothing, but you are claiming you are Salafi `ulamas. fasa'l; who is Allah Almighty addressing? Say, to Rasoolullah (s)! Allah Almighty is saying, `allamahu 'l-qur'an, `allamahu 'l -bayyaan, “Allah taught him the Qur'an, taught him expression.” He is rasool ath-thaqalayn, “Prophet of the two great masses (Man and jinn).” The Seal of Prophets (s) is the khitaab! Is Allah Almighty is addressing Rasoolullah, the Seal of Prophets (s)? Say! fasa'l. This addressing is to whom? Say! You are saying, "We are `ulamas." I am asking. fasa'l. To whom is the Holy Qur'an addressing? Say! Doctors of Shariah. Say! `ulamas of Azhar. Say! fasa'l, to whom is Allah Almighty is sending that holy verse? fasa'l bihi. That bihi is another ocean! SubhaanAllah, subhaanAllah. Sawal, you must ask for everything you need from someone who knows the beginning and the end, khabeer. Khabeer can't be naaqis, deficient; khabeer must be kaamil, perfect! fasa'l bihi khabeeraa! O Salafi ‘ulamas! Do you think you follow someone who is khabeer, expert? And you ask about this holy verse, what does it mean, bihi? You may ask, because everything in existence is clear. If you find a key you may enter and know, but it is important to find who is carrying that key. Khabeer is carrying the key for opening khazaa'in, treasures of hidden treasures! Say, “We know nothing." I am a humble servant advising you to find a khabeer, expert, and ask. Ask for me; I am nothing. First, ask for me also. The second, ask for you also. You may accept or refuse, it is not important. Ask first for that person; every day we are saying so many things, but we are not understanding. If you are not understanding, then there must be a person that can understand. You must ask and that person can explain to you. First, Salafi `ulamas, fasa'l, ask for me from those people that have a power of understanding and show you the personalities of people. May Allah forgive us. Astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah. Fatihah. The Human Yearning for the Perfection of Pride

Dastoor, yaa RijaalAllah. A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem, bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem. “Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem” is a title which is in every book and which is said before every speech. If the blessed “bismillah” is not said, then the gathering becomes like a scavenger’s gathering and those sitting in the gathering become scavengers. Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmaani ‘r-Raheem. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbaru ‘l- Akbar! Dastoor, yaa RijaalAllah. When I ask for support to speak from their words the battery is on, but when the battery is finished it is thrown away. Dastoor, yaa RijaalAllah. At the moment you say this a connection is made. Its’ example is like a stream running freely without a blockage. The place where water is stored doesn’t stay for long, it gets over. Our religion is the religion of haneef, it is open. “Haneef” means it has reached from the Heavens, to the servants of Allah. Whoever wants to reach that stream is saafee, clean. If he uses his mind to reach then it is definite that he will reach his goal. If a scholar’s knowledge is from the Heavens it never becomes less. They have reached the streams from Heavens. For the beginners it cuts down, but for those who have reached

those streams it never cuts, it only increases, not stopped by anything. We learn a lesson from the water of ZamZam in the middle of the desert. If you dig 1,000 feet, it never runs out; with Allah's Will it increases and never diminishes. If one thousand, one million, one billion, or one trillion people come to drink from it, it will suffice them! Wa `allamnaahu min ladunnaa `ilma. And whom We had taught knowledge from Our own Presence. (Al- Kahf, 18:65) Min ladunna is a special point. We do not judge the Master of Noble Prophets (s)! (Mawlana Shaykh stands and sits.) It is impossible to describe the greatness of his mission. Allahu Akbar! That is why no one can be at his level. Allah Jalla wa `alaa made him the Possessor of the Absolute Message, granted what no other had ever been given. Prophet Moses (a) was proud of his knowledge, with his forty tablets (a camel's load) yet he found someone who had unprecedented knowledge as stated in Surah Al-Kahf’s verses, describing his visit to one of Allah's servants whom Allah had taught from His divine knowledge. Fa wajadaa `abdaan min `ibaadina ataynaahu rahmatan min `indina wa `allamnaahu min ladunna `ilma. So they found one of Our servants, on whom We had bestowed mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught knowledge from Our Presence. (Al-Kahf, 18:65) Min rahmatinaa means, “from Our mercy.” Similarly, Allah states that He has sent Prophet Muhammad (s): wa ma arsalnaaka illa rahmatan li ‘l-`alameen. And We did not send you (Muhammad) except as a Mercy to the worlds.” (Al-Anbiya, 21:107) To enter such a drop of such an ocean one gains the gushing-forth of this ocean. Allah grants endless oceans from His knowledge. However, an ant gains a different measure of that knowledge from another creature, such as a whale. A small fish gains something and a big fish, a whale, gains something else from knowledge. A

fish wishes to drink from the whole ocean because it seeks to gain as much as possible from its possibilities. Sayyidina Khidr (a) was granted from these oceans and no one was able to gain something directly from Allah without a medium, and as for the knowledge of min ladunna we don’t ask a medium. w ’abtaghaw ilayhi ’l-waseelah. Seek the means of approach to Him. (Al-Ma`idah, 5:35) The word “waasita” is a heavy word and it is not mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, but it is mentioned, “w ’abtaghaw ilayhi ’l-waseelah,” meaning, “If you wished to come closer to Him, then seek a means, otherwise it is not possible to reach without a means of transportation.” For example, if you wish to fly you need a plane. Allah Jalla wa `alaa says, “w ’abtaghaw ilayhi ’l-waseelah.” Here, servants of Allah are addressed and “ilayhi” is “My Beloved, My Messenger who represents Me.” Success is from Allah! Fatihah. This is a deep ocean. Fatihah. Human beings are proud and think themselves strong; they don’t humble themselves. Mankind seeks to be honored. The Prophet (s) was granted the real ocean of honor and greatness that he deserves. The Children of Adam also like to be honored. We don't want pride from our own egos, but for the sake of Allah, such as the one needed to enter the presence of a king. The human being likes pride for the sake of his own ego. He likes grandeur and greatness; that's why our egos are poisoned, but grandeur for the sake of Allah, on the other hand, is acceptable. Wa lahu ‘l-kibriyaa fi ‘s-samaawaati w ‘l-ard. To Him be glory throughout the Heavens and the Earth. (Al- Jathiyah, 45:37) We like grandeur and pride for ourselves for the sake of Allah, because we wish to be suited to be in the presence of the Glorious Lord in the right attire, just like a person who wears the best clothes when invited to

be in the presence of a king. This greatness and honor is hidden; this is reality. He made a secret inside us that we ask from Him greatness and honor for His sake! Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: You have corrected the understandings, mashaa-Allah, Sayyidee. Pride used to be from the bad characteristics, but you highlighted the good side of this characteristic. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: SubhaanAllah, there is a secret in this. He is the One Who made this desire in our hearts, we didn’t buy it from markets. He likes His servants to be dressed from the oceans of kibriyaa, grandeur. Allah dresses us from grandeur to be fit to be in His Presence. He likes that all His servants become kings. Allahu Akbar! Fatihah. Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: Let us stay inside the oceans of pride and grandeur. No one wrote about this. It's a fresh understanding of these characteristics. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: Fresh? Frais? Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: Fraises, strawberries (in French) Mashaa-Allah, your speech is like the perfume of flowers and rayaaheen, basil! Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: Allahu Akbar! (Mawlana Shaykh prays two raka`ats.) Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: Mashaa-Allah, Sayyidee. You spoke wonders, Sayyidee. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: These are wonders. Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: What wonders, Sayyidee? You changed the notion of the word “pride,” mashaa- Allah. This means that all the words have a different dimension according to saints. We never heard you speak on this topic. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: Tawbah, yaa Rabbee. Tawbah, yaa Rabbee.

Fatihah. These are oceans, oceans. Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: Oceans? Mawlana, you are the ocean from outer space, with no beginning and no ending for it! If the station of kibriyaa is like that, then what about other stations? Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: Mashaa-Allah.They dressed with greatness and honor from the presence of the Prophet (s) at the station of Mi`raaj and at every moment he is dressed with kibriyaa. THE PERFECT METHOD amongst THE MILLIONS OF WRONG WAYS

When is a person going to find peace within himself? That is the question. Yes, that is the thing that our sister has in her heart. Rivers run until they reach oceans, struggling, running, until reaching an ocean or a sea; then its over, finished. Whoever asks to find peace within himself must also reach an ocean or a sea or at least a lake; it doesn’t matter, because a lake is also firm in its place. But everyone is moving and struggling. Therefore everyone is running here and there every day; they are struggling and running to and fro from morning to night and from night to morning. There are two ways in which a person may find rest. One of them is through natural death. Until death a person struggles. When he dies his arms and legs are spread out and he is laid to rest and there is no more struggling. According to his station he has reached peace. Yes his peace by natural death maybe only for his physical body as still he has not reached real peace in his Spirit. Therefore, we must ask for peace from both sides, for

http://www.sufismus-online.de/PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays (1 von 8)04.07.2013 23:29:35

6714 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays

our physical bodies and our spiritual bodies. Our physical bodies will reach to peace by death, natural death. Then the body is going to be in peace, no more movement, no more struggling. But we must look also after our soul, whether it has reached peace or not, whether struggling is still going in the soul or or not. For this reason, the Prophet Muhammad (sal) said, “Die before you die.” This is what makes a person to reach to spiritual peace and satisfaction, to true peace and satisfaction. Our physical body may die, but as yet we haven’t attained our spiritual peace. Therefore, the one who is asking for real peace within himself must try the ways of those who have attained real peace in their spiritual bodies, and the Prophet’s advice to his nation, to ourselves, is to die before natural death comes upon us. Only a few people may be equal in their bodily peace and spiritual peace because most people are destroying their spiritual peace by running after the physical body’s peace. It is impossible for a person, without reaching his spiritual peace, to reach to bodily peace until natural death comes. But even at the time of death there is no benefit at that time, because even if you find peace in your physical body your spiritual body is still struggling and suffering. Then, from the day of one’s death up to the Day of Resurrection, in your hayar barzakhi, the intermediate life between the eternal life and this world’s life, those troubles and struggles may still continue. Perhaps it may continue even on the Day of Resurrection, and it may be more than this also. One may be in hell, struggling and suffering for a period until he reaches to the Ocean that he was given in pre-eternity. Therefore, the most important thing that we must know concerns our absolute peace and when and how is it going to be. Until you reach to that Ocean which Allah Almighty gave you in pre-eternity, you are going to struggle and suffer, and you may be in hell during this life and in the grave and on the Day of Resurrection, and then finally in hell itself also, because it is impossible to find peace without reaching your homeland in that Ocean. But then we are always still running and still struggling.

http://www.sufismus-online.de/PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays (2 von 8)04.07.2013 23:29:35

6715 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays

We give sufferings to ourselves because we use wrong methods to acquire peace or to reach peace. Sometimes scientists prepare a rocket to go up but it turns and falls back. Like this so many people are now using wrong methods, so that instead of going up, they come down – a crash landing, a falling back. Only some small fault, even a simple wrong thing, may do that. Therefore we must be very careful, when we use a method, as to whether it is perfect or not. We are trying to give a perfect method to everyone who is asking to reach peace, to real peace, to real satisfaction because reaching to this peace and satisfaction is the destination of everybody. You may take a train from London up to Edinburgh and on your way there may be one hundred stations and at each station some people get out because everyone knows his destination. If you get out before Edinburgh you will not be satisfied, you will say, “Oh, we came to some other place. This is not our destination.” If you get struck and remain in that station, you are going to suffer forever because you have reached a wrong destination. Therefore, we must know our destination, and then we must take a ticket to that station, not to a station before it nor after it. Both kinds of these people who lose their destinations, suffer here and in the hereafter. Therefore a person must do everything to save himself from arriving at the wrong station. He must do something or he must suffer long, in order to find a way to his original destination. It is therefore terrible and dangerous for a person not to look at his destination. He must look out for his destination and must use the right method to reach his destination otherwise he will not attain peace; he will never attain it. In our time, people are using so many wrong methods. They do not understand, or they do not even know, where is the beginning and what is the end; just like a blind person does not understand where he is or to where he is going. Therefore guidance is necessary and the most important thing for a person throughout his life is to find a true guide. A true guide can be known when your soul is in peace and satisfaction with him. That is the sign, the real sign: to feel peace and satisfaction with him in your heart. If

http://www.sufismus-online.de/PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays (3 von 8)04.07.2013 23:29:35

6716 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays

you are still in doubt, hesitant, it means that something is wrong with that person and you must look for some other guide. If your heart is not in peace with his method, you must not follow that way. There are so many ways. You must try to find another guide and so on until you reach peace in your heart with that person. Then it should be all right for you. Then this is the way to attain peace, to die before dying. This means that when you find a guide, you must be with him. You must not carry about a different personality from his but must agree to be one with him, one unit. You can’t carry about another personality from your guide’s; you must melt your personality in his personality and you must appear as himself. Then you will be all right. Once a person came to a Grandsheikh and knocked at his door. The Grandsheikh asked, “Who is there?” “Ibrahim,” the man said. “It is I.” “I, I, I, always saying I”, said the Grandsheikh. “I?” the Grandsheikh answered “My place is only for one, not for two. Go away.” So that person had to go away. After one year however he tried again. He came and knocked at the door. “Who is there?” the grandsheikh asked. “You, you,” he answered this time “As you said, “You,” you may now come in.” replied the Grandsheikh. Therefore, the first condition for a person who is asking to reach real peace is that he must give himself, all that he is carrying, to put it into his guide. His guide can take it and carry it. When you are going to be in your guide that is the way to reach to your destination. Consider an airplane. It may hold one hundred or two hundred or even three hundred passengers, but when it flies you can see only one jet plane. You do not see the three

http://www.sufismus-online.de/PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays (4 von 8)04.07.2013 23:29:35

6717 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays

hundred persons inside it; you can see only that it is a plane, flying. The plane takes all those people into itself, finished. Therefore, when you take a guide to your destination, you can be in him; you can give yourself upto him. Your selfhood must be given up. You must consider yourself as a drop and when it reaches the Ocean there is no more drop – finished. You leave being that drop and you become the Ocean. That is peace. When that drop falls into the Ocean, can you take it out, can you find it? Finished; it is all Ocean. Therefore, peace is not to be found without leaving your drop in that ocean. And your guide may be a lake or he may be a sea, but they all run into Oceans, also. That is important. When we say, “Die before you die,” this is the meaning of how can one die before his natural death. “Is the one who was dead and then We brought him back to life, and made for him a light with which to walk among men, like the one who is in darkness from which he cannot emerge?” Quran 6:122. You give your personality to your guide; yes, you throw your personality into your guide’s personality, and then you say, “I am no longer in existence,” finished. When you look at your guide, you see yourself in him and when he looks at you, he looks at himself, and we – we reached our spiritual peace. You may find it during your short lifetime in this life. But if you do not use true, correct methods and you go wrong, you will always go far away from peace. Instead of running toward Oceans, you will be running toward deserts. Therefore, anyone who thinks about peace and happiness and satisfaction and pleasure and endless enjoyment must look after his spiritual life’s peace, and this is impossible for a person if he does not find an Ocean and run into it. To do this is so hard because our egos are always too proud to surrender. This is the most difficult proposition that can be made to our nafs; the most difficult thing for the nafs is to put its personality aside and agree to be with another’s. It holds onto its personality very strongly and it never likes to lose it.

http://www.sufismus-online.de/PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays (5 von 8)04.07.2013 23:29:35

6718 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerfectMethodAmongstMillionsOfWrongWays

Thus, we are fighting. Between our souls and our egos a fight is taking place. Our souls wanting to reach that Ocean and our egos saying, “No!” It is like a bottle containing water, which is thrown into the ocean. The water wants to reach the ocean but the bottle prevents it. Our nafs is just like that bottle, not agreeing to be broken in order to be nothing, and not wanting to let that water go to the ocean. This is the quarrel and fight that goes on between our soul and nafs. The one, who is successful in defeating his ego and making it agree to take the same personality of his guide, is the happy one and has reached to final peace – real peace, eternal peace, eternal happiness and eternal existence. We take enjoyment from our existence. The greatest grant of our Lord to us is existence. But true existence may be gained only when we give up our false existence or being. If we give up our fani, transitory, temporary existence, we may acquire permanent existence. Inasmuch as we hold on to it strongly, not agreeing to give it up, it is difficult to reach the permanent and eternal existence.
