https://www.nvrislam.net/index.php?j=eng&post=5083
Ismail was the first son, and Ishaq was the second son. So that Moses was not saying that 'prophecy just finished with me'. No, even now Children of Israel looking someone that was given to them good tidings about that one, that they say 'Messiah'. The Orthodox of Israel people are looking for that. Others are not too much looking, modern Jewish people are not too much thinking on it, but Orthodox people that keep their ways so fanatically say that: 'We are expecting the Messiah that we have been given good tidings about that one'. Then Jesus Christ also was never saying: 'I am the last one', but he was saying: 'I am going'- as they are believing: 'I am going to father', that is their words, we are not believing in it, but according to their gospels he was saying: 'I am going to father and father sending to you someone after me'. He was said 'Parakletos', they are not saying the real word that Jesus Christ was saying about him. This Parakletos is a Greek word. It is like to be Ahmad, praised one, or praising one. So that he was not saying: 'I am last one', but when S. Muhammad sws was coming, Allah Almighty informed him that: 'You are the last one', beginning with Adam and ending with Muhammad peace be upon them. All prophets just coming with heavenly lights, if they are not bringing heavenly lights, no one can approach them, no. Therefore the lights of Heavens just reach to mankind on earth from first man up to S.Muhammad sws, and it is impossible before Judgment Day that lights to finish. That light must run through East and West, from North to South, must be. But as we are looking sometimes electricity, running power in wires, power on it, but if not taking this, it is not giving lights to you. You must use this transformator to make a way to bring here, when putting there, coming lights. But if not using this, you look and say no, no lights. If using it, you look, oh, where it was? It was hidden. And man is in need to find a way to heavenly lights. If not, he is going to be blind, and a person who doesn't reach heavenly lights is blind here and hereafter. And you can't find now that lights through universities and academies, because they don't take any care for heavenly knowledge or heavenly teachings. They don't give any value for the teachings of prophets, teachings of Heavens, they say No. Even the holy Name of Allah, you may say God, they may say dieu, deo, it is prevented and prohibited or forbidden to speak, to say the Name of God, or theo, dio or other words that people say. It is forbidden. For what?

6693 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PeopleSpendTheirTimeWithUselessThings

That means heavenly lights you can't find through universities, through schools, secondary schools. From elementary schools even it is forbidden to speak on that heavenly knowledge, and they are learning everything that they may see through this sunlight. Sunlight, what showing to them, they say yes. When going to be nighttime, saying: 'Nothing'. When sun coming, shining, saying: 'Oh, there are so many things'. When darkness coming and covering everything, they say: 'Nothing'. Through darkness lights show what is in it. If no darkness you can't see stars. Must be darkness that you may see lights. Therefore now people lost their ways. No more spirituality. Even through religious people, even through Muslim religious people, they are not asking, they ask only lights of this sun and nothing else. Not interesting in spirituality, Sufi ways, saying: No, because they are blind people. May Allah forgive me and bless you. It is a short but good association to be for everyone in Europe and Non-Muslim world, and Muslim world may take a benefit, because we have a line from lights of Heavens. I am claiming. Alhamdulillah, Allah Almighty not closing, not making it off, for yourself. If you are not coming, my light stopping, not going forward, and that is an association as I said that you are like a person coming to a supermarket, supermarket people are not forcing you that you must buy something, no. A person may come and look around. Some people take this and that and pay and get out. Some people come only for looking around what is here and there and empty going out. Don't be such a person that comes into a market, a big hypermarket or supermarket or mini market even, and not taking anything. That is an imperfection. A perfect person must try to take something. It is not necessary to buy the whole market, no. You may take from this and that, it is okay. May Allah grant to you from His divinely light to be in Paradise here and hereafter for the honour of the Seal of Prophets. Fatiha. THE PERCEPTION OF THE SUFIS and their WISE APPROACH

A Sufi Sheikh must have attained purification of his ego’s characteristics to become a Sheikh. So, if he is subject to fits of anger he is not a real Sheikh, and his teachings will not affect people’s hearts. Sometimes, however, Sheikhs do get angry, but their anger is a barrage directed against people’s bad characteristics, not against them personally, and its intention is to help that person rid himself of a bad characteristic that is hindering his spiritual progress. Every bad characteristic presents itself to the Sheikh as a target – like the apple on the boy’s head in the famous story of William Tell – and an authorized Sheikh will target this without harming the man himself. Another difference between the anger of a Sheikh and common anger is that a Sheikh will never hold a grudge: he shoots his arrow at the target the moment a bad characteristic appears, and then it is over. Holding grudges is very, very dangerous for all people, for if it continues it becomes a dangerous illness that strikes to the very root of our faith and destroys it. Every time a person displays an objectionable characteristic you may shoot it down, but never assume that you will encounter that characteristic every time you meet that person. Don’t say, “There is that person who

6695 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerceptionOfSufis

did such-and-such yesterday”, because today that characteristic has not appeared, and perhaps he has rid himself of it, and you are wronging him in assuming otherwise. Our Grandsheikh was following the Holy Prophet (sal) in that he never held grudges. If a bad characteristic would appear in a murid he would shoot at it immediately and directly, but with other people he used indirect methods of correcting faults; for it is very dangerous to criticize a person directly, as he may then hold a grudge against you, and we must not invite such a situation upon ourselves, or other people. Only Saints and small children up to the age of eleven may be able to accept criticism without holding a grudge. After children reach the age of twelve they lose this good quality. You may see small children fight, but when it passes it is over. Some few people never lose this good quality, but in our days it is almost inevitably lost. When a saintly person meets someone he assumes the best and expects to encounter only goodwill, but most people are suspicious and anticipate evil when they meet a stranger. Our Grandsheikh never anticipated evil from anyone, but when he encountered it, he had divine permission to shoot. Most Sheikhs don’t even use this method of direct criticism on their murids because of possible harmful reactions. Sheikh Sharafuddin once told our Grandsheikh: “If you don’t apply poison to external wounds (i.e. medicine for external use only that would be poison if taken internally) our internally applied medicine might never work.” In the presence of truth the ego raises its head in rebellion, and we must put it down; that is a very delicate task, like surgery. A butcher may cut meat, but he can’t perform surgery. The butcher has a knife and so does the surgeon, but what a difference between the two instruments! One of them is used for slaughtering and the other to prolong life. It is well known, no one becomes a qualified surgeon simply by reading medical books, but only by being an intern at the side of a master surgeon. In our time, Muslims are approaching the illnesses they encounter in the West with a butcher’s knife, and ignoring Allah’s command to call people to truth with wisdom. The

6696 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerceptionOfSufis

Arabs in particular are to blame for the present situation, and most of the scholars from Arab countries are opposing our efforts. Why? Because they are coming with their butcher’s knives intending to stab Westerners in the heart, and make sure that all the survivors run for their lives – and I am trying to prevent this. This enrages them, and though they can’t accuse me of transgressing the religious law, they maintain, about Sufis in general that, “they are calling people to Islam, but have introduced so many innovations.” Their criticisms stem from envy, that Sufi “surgeons” are so often successful in helping people get over their illnesses. In a famous Hadith Qudsi, or Holy Tradition, Allah Almighty states that He Himself becomes the eyes, ears and hands of His Saints. So how should a Sufi Sheikh be oblivious to the needs of the people he encounters? Those Muslim preachers who come to the West without Divinely inspired hearing, vision and touch are surely blind, deaf and insensitive (but, unfortunately, not dumb). Once upon a time there was a deaf person. Someone informed his wife that his neighbour was ill. She then communicated this to him through sign language, and he resolved to go and visit the neighbor, but knowing that he could not carry on a normal dialogue, he made the following plan for his visit. I may say ‘How are you?’ and he will reply, ‘I’m feeling a little better’. Then I will say ‘May Allah increase it (i.e. your recovery)’, and he will say, ‘thank you’. Then I will sit a while, and then ask him, ‘Which doctor is attending to you?’ and he will say the name of some respected physician and I will reply. ‘He is a very good doctor, very suitable for your case’. Then I will sit a while more and ask, ‘What medicine have you been taking?’, and he will say the name of some drug and I will reply, ‘It is very beneficial, keep taking it’, then I will say my salams and go.” So, thus having a fixed scenario in his mind, off he went to the house of his neighbour, knocked on door and was admitted to the sick man’s room. “How are you, oh my neighbor?”, he asked. “I’m miserable”, replied the sick man. “May Allah increase it”, said the deaf man. This vexed the sick man, as you may well imagine. “Who is looking

6697 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerceptionOfSufis

after you?”, asked the deaf man. “Izrail, the angel of death”, replied the annoyed ill man. “An excellent physician, if he visits you, you should have nothing to worry about”, said the deaf man. By now the sick man was furious. “What have you been taking as medicine?”, said the deaf man. “Poison”, retorted the enraged ill man. “That should be a very useful treatment for you. Now I must go, it has been nice visiting you”, said the deaf man. “Go to hell”. “Thank you very much, good bye.” People who occupy themselves with advising others in matters concerning their eternal lives should be people with open hearts, so that, through the eyes of their hearts they may perceive what is relevant and acceptable to the person they are advising. It is not useful just to ignore the fact that the understanding and mentality of people from a different cultural background are drastically different from your own. To be a spiritual advisor is not a question of obtaining degrees in that field, as one would obtain a diploma in chemistry or law; it is a question of subtle changes in the way one perceives people and events, so as to penetrate the defenses and arrive at the reality of a person’s inner state. This profession requires a sharp diagnostic eye. You may be a pharmacist in charge of a whole depot of drugs, but you haven’t the right to prescribe for ill people. Even if you know the drug required you may not know the dosage, and kill the patient with an overdose. If we present the medicine to the patient in a form that makes it easier to swallow or taste better, should we be blamed? Is eating iron filings the only way to get iron into one’s system? The Holy Prophet said: “I have been sent to approach people tactfully”. The meaning of this Hadith is that there is no wisdom in meeting people’s prejudices head-on. Don’t seek confrontation, but be wise like the ship’s pilot who, when faced with a headwind does not set bow to it and let it push him back, but wisely tracks an indirect diagonal course that may be three times as long as the direct one, but can be pursued even in the face of such an unfavourable breeze, a course which will set him towards his goal.

6698 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: PerceptionOfSufis

The Holy Prophet never used the word “No”, but we are so busy pointing the finger and saying: “This is forbidden and that won’t do”. That is not our way, neither was it the way of the Prophet(sal), nor of the great Sufi Masters of history, and Islamic scholars blame the Sufis and call us “innovators”, claiming that our methods have no basis in the example set by the Holy Prophet (sal). When a seed is newly planted and the first leaves spring forth, these leaves may look somewhat different than the ones that grow later. But we mustn’t cut the later-sprouting leaves, saying: “These leaves must be from a different seed”. Show me a plant that remains the same throughout its life, and I will show you a plastic plant. Islam was still a sapling in the Prophet’s time, and through history has matured into a huge tree whose branches reach from East to West. And even if there are thousands of branches spreading over all peoples and times, they are connected to the root and the main trunk. Then after some years, a tree develops flowers and fruits as well as leaves. At that point shall we look askance at the whole of mankind as it imbibes the fragrance of the flowers of our tree and as men nourish themselves from the sweet fruits of our tree? Shall we reject fruits and flowers, clinging to a “leaves only” mentality, advocating the destruction of the flowers and fruits as innovations? True Islam is not like a hedge that requires a gardener’s clipper to keep it square, but it is like a miraculously expansive and fruit-bearing tree – a shelter for all and a source of every delicious fruit.

Perfect Cleanliness to Enter Paradise

We have been ordered to reach a perfection within this life. Our physical body grows up to perfection and then it gets weaker and weaker until it finishes. But if you reach real perfection, spiritual perfection, it will be with you forever. You will find your Heavenly Stations according to the perfection you reached here. There will be endless rows in the Divine Presence, according to your perfection. If you have not reached any perfection here, there will not be any room for you to be there at all. There are two kind of works which will give you perfection: first you must be clean. Not only your body and clothes, but the important part is to be clean of all our ego's dirty characteristics. If you are able to leave all that behind you, you will reach real cleanliness. The outer cleanliness is easy, but the dirt in your character is difficult. If you don't clean yourself from these during your lifetime, you will be cleaned by force in the last moments of this life. If that is not enough, the cleaning-up will continue in your grave. If that is not enough, the operation will continue on the Day of Resurrection. If that is not enough, you will fall down from the bridge over hell on your way to Paradise, to be cleaned there. The final place for cleaning up is hell. No one can pass through to Paradise without being clean. In this century every kind of dirtiness is planted within the character. This century has the most suitable season for the bad characteristics of the ego. In this century everybody is asking for ever more freedom and more and more bad characteristics are developing. Never at

any time has there been as many bad characteristics as in this century. The system of governments is a very great foolishness. They let people do everything according to their egos. That is the definition of freedom. They are not trying to prevent bad actions, instead they only want to catch them. That is the worst system of governing people. The government should close all the doors and prevent crimes. But we have the worst satanic system operating on earth now. Islam demands all the doors of crime to be shut. That is a command. Islam prevents alcohol. It is the mother of every kind of crime. If it is prevented, so many people could rest. Instead the doors to alcohol are opened. In court the judges even uses alcohol as an excuse. People are pardoned from their crimes because of having been drunk. People are actually encouraged to commit crimes like this. Instead people attack Islam for not allowing alcohol! People who commit crimes while being drunk should not be pardoned. Instead they should be punished double and publicly. But these governments just let everything happen. It is a perfect season to plant every kind of evil. One of the biggest illnesses of the century is pride. Everyone from small to big, men to women, are proud. We are also proud. Worshippers are proud. We are proud of our fasting, of our zikr, of our prayers, of our clothes... Mankind is using every reason to be proud, even though it is the worst characteristic. Sometimes when you stand up and pray an opening will come. The Lord has countless servants praying to Him, standing up and going into prostration. Grandsheik used to show me that there are really 5 directions. Towards the west there is a West End, not the one in London, but a real ending. There where the sun is setting there is a mosque which has been built by angels. It has 12000 entrances. From one door to the second entrance is a distance of three miles. That is the nearest one to our world. There are so many worlds. That Mosque in the west is so full with prayers 5 times a day. Imagine 1200 entrances with a walking distance of one hour between each of them, and it is full of praying people 5 times a day! This huge crowd of countless servants is still only a single drop in the ocean! In spite of these realities we are proud of our prayers and we think we are giving something to Allah. All these countless servants who are praising their Creator. What can an ant give you? The Divine Treasures are full of glorification for the Creator. But everything we give to Him is so small within these countless worlds of creation. How great is Allah! We are nothing, so let us keep our ego down. When we are clean Allah will dress us. Take away those dirty clothes and let Allah dress you. It will make you happy and honourable in Heaven. They will see that it is the Lord Who has dressed you with His Divine Presence. Even if you prayed 20 million

rakats instead of 20 for Tarawih. Even if I would not only pray each rakat with one verse of the Quran, but with a whole chapter like some big Imams do, or if Allah would give you the power of reciting the whole Quran in each rakat, and you would be proud of what you did, you would be on the same level as satan. Don't think that you are giving Allah anything. He already has absolute glory. He is in endless glory oceans. Put yourself down. Pride eats your worshipping. There is an insect which eats clothes and books. Pride does the same to your worshipping. The moment you think you are important you have lost. To pray and to be proud is worse than not to pray at all. Whoever does not pray, but who is not proud, will be in a better situation than someone who comes into the Divine Presence being proud about his prayers. You must pray, because He has rights to be worshipped and glorified. He can dress you, you are not allowed to dress yourself. Only He can. Whoever rises his head in pride will have something fall on it. No one can raise their head in the Divine Presence. Look what happened to satan! Adam put his head down and Allah raised him. That is a great lesson. Satan dressed himself to be the one to be glorified. That is why he fell. Beware to let your ego tell you that you are this one or that one. You will fall down and no one will be able to help you until you have left your ego. This is a Holy Month and it has been designed for that purpose: to clean us. Beware of the tricks and traps of your ego. Such associations will give everyone attending it, who really wants to be a servant and glorify his lord, a strong foundation. This is a basic teaching and training: whatever you do it will come back to you. Pride will destroy everything like it destroyed satan and every worshipping he had done in thousands of years. Come to the level of real servanthood and don't claim to be anything. Don't say that you are German, Italian, Turk, Kurdish, African, African-American, Ottoman, Pakistani, or the tallest... 01.01.1996

"But I must enjoy myself. Bring some nuts. Better that I may make my mouth look like oxen, camels, or sheep." They are sitting and enjoying. We must enjoy ourselves also. "Did you bring nuts and almonds? Some of them must be salty, some of them sweet. I must enjoy myself." I don't think our attenders are doing this so much, but beyond our attenders, people's characteristics are now on the level of animals, never thinking of anything except eating and drinking. Marhaban! Yaa Salafi `ulamas! As-salaamu `alaykum! Is it true? And we are now saying that it is only a warning, or you may say a teaching. You may say for nafassala, amusement. Yes. And say! They must try to follow the right path that the Seal of Prophets (s) is showing us to go on. What was the Seal of Prophet's (s) teaching method? The Holy Qur'an is saying, (Mawlana Shaykh stands) Asta`eedhu billah: inna arsalnaaka shaahidan wa mubashshiran wa nadheera, Verily we sent you as a witness and a bearer of good tidings and a warner.
