” They too say, “We are not accepting Islam.” How is it that you can say that you are not accepting Islam when you don’t even know the meaning of the word Islam. What is it then that you are rejecting. Which thing in your opinion is Islam? I may say to you that Islam means to surrender to the Lord of the Heavens. If you are surrendering to your Lord then you are a Muslim also. No Christianity, no Judaism, no this and no that. No. When Yakub (alai) was passing away from this world he called all his children together and asked them, “Oh my sons, what are you going to do after me? Please tell me what will you do.” They replied, “We will be following your way and the way of our grandfathers and our ancestors. We will follow their way and be Muslims. We will be surrendering to our Lord and His heavenly orders and commands. We will be Muslims and surrendered ones.” Although Yakub (alai) died this does not mean that he passed away. His pure soul was ready and he was reaching to the heavens. People do not know anything about religion today. If they do not tell me the meaning of Islam then they are only following Shaitan and not following the Heavenly Commands that has reached to people through the prophets from the line of Seyyadina Ibrahim (alai). It is so sad that people do not understand what Islam is. They are saying to me,

“We are not Muslims. Can we follow only sufi ways without accepting Islam.” Ya Hu, Islam came through the prophets to correct the balance in people. This is the importance of Islam and the mission of Islam. Islam came because it is important to balance the nations. As a nation or as an individual the people of the 21st century do not understand this. They say that they are not in need of a Heavenly Balance. What do you know. Do you think that you created yourself? Look around you and see the whole world has fallen into endless problems and oppression. It has fallen into countless miseries and is in endless trouble. They do not know how to save themselves from this. England, Russia, Japan, China, America, Arabia and Turkey, all of them do not even know how to save themselves. I am very sorry to say that Muslim countries too are not surrendering to Allah Almighty and asking for balance and they say, “We do not need and do not ask for heavenly balance because we are now following the western countries and we are following democracy.” Even the Turks, the Arabs and the Pakistanis are now saying that they are the best Muslims and is this word ‘democracy’ even found in Islam. They are bringing various people from different levels of society and putting them together. They bring the shepherd from the mountains, the shopkeeper from the bazaar, the seller from the market, the soldier from the army and they bring together the business people and the professionals like the doctor and the advocate and make a very strange collection of people come together. The shepherd does not understand what the doctor says and the doctor does not understand what the engineer says and all of them are confused. This collection of people is like what is found in the zoo. Once there was a new trend. At the beginning of the last century there was a country in which they collected all these different type of people and had an election. After the elections these people got together, and one could not understand the other. The Chairman was saying, “We are very respected people. We are bringing a new law. We are bringing this law and all you have to say is ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to it.” One person in this collection of people was sitting and sleeping. He was informed after being woken up

that a new law was to be passed and the Chairman was asking them to vote. They said that it is forbidden to say ‘no’ and everyone must vote for this law. At first this was the situation. If they did not vote and say, ‘yes’ they had to face the guillotine. Thereafter there were different parties. Some of these parties are insisting that all the members in that party vote for what it wants. If someone refuses they are told that they should vote and no one has the right to refuse. They are told, “Don’t speak too much, say ‘yes’ and vote.” This is democracy. People are now fed up with these Shaitanic ways and they are becoming disobedient to the governments. They say, “We do not accept this.” Now people are understanding this and not accepting what the government says and they are getting angry and making trouble. This is because there is no balance in the way the government is ruling. They refused the Heavenly Balance and are now using Shaitanic balance. Till they accept the Heavenly Balance humanity is going to make trouble and kill each other. Some are making missiles and some others are making another type of weapon in order to kill each other. Allah Almighty never orders to kill one another. Allah Almighty is asking a happy life for His servants. The Shaitanic teachings however are trying to do the opposite by trying to make troubles and kill each other and they are will be endless miseries because of this and they will not be able to save themselves. Oh people! You must understand that we are in need of balance and the whole world has lost their balance now. They cannot bring about balance by anything other than the balance brought by the Heavenly Ones. The Heavenly Ones should come and correct the balance of these nations. This is important, if they do not look at what is going to come to them from above, they are all going to be finished and no one is going to remain. This is not something, which I have prepared. I am declaring this to all the nations through the east and the west that there should be one balance. Everyone must listen to this association that we are addressing to the whole of mankind. If they do not listen we have another kind of power by which they can be taken away and this is not what they are expecting. They will wonder how this is

happening. This is because the Heavenly Ones are so very powerful. I am nothing. Something is something. Sometimes I am something. Now I am nothing, I am zero. But when that Heavenly One is with me I have power and at that time I will not care even if the whole world is rushing against me. Now therefore we are giving you something from reality for your understanding. If they do not understand they should be taken away. May Allah forgive me and bless you for the honour of the most honoured one through balance and who is correcting balances, the most honoured one Seyyadina Muhammad (sal). The meaning of the Shahada
The meaning of the Shahada is: ,Ya Rabbi, Omy Lord, I left Shaitan and those, who are with him, behind, and I turned my face toward You'. Face means one's whole being with sincerity and without hypocrisy or shirk, attributing nothing to Him, the Creator of heavens and earth, Who was before anything He created. Everything in His mulk and malakut has its own creation, a purpose, a wisdom, a secret. If you plant a certain seed, only a certain tree will grow through its inherent secret. In the olive-seed there is the secret of the olive-tree. Look the 'Azamet of Allah! The smallest seed has its fitrat, special creation ( private constitution, natural disposition). By its secret the atoms join. And the electrons again have another secret. Everything is created as an example and unique- Allah doesn't produce copies- that is not His attribute, but everything is always new, according to another fitrat. Who planted the wild trees on the mountains? Who put the animals there? Allah created nature in the beginning.

5754 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: MeaningOfShahada
So we are saying: ,I am turning my face toward the Creator of heavens and earth, Allah', and we say: ,Subhanaka, Allahumma, wa bihamdika wa tabarak ismuka'... Who is saying Shahada, means to say that he doesn't turn his face toward anyone else but Allah. Now on Juma, Friday, Allah is inviting the inhabitants of Paradise to 'Hasinat-ul-Quds', a station in His Power. This word can't be translated...After Arabic Farsi is the richest and most precious language that people in former times used to learn. Who could read and understand had to learn these two languages. They are like the two wings. People are on two levels: some are learned, others not. There is halk edebiyati and divan edebiyati- common literature and special literature. Dervish Yunus was someone to address common people. He was speaking about the water-wheel. And he was like that- taking and giving to people from the source, like a mother sometimes chews the food to make it edible for the child, which has no teeth yet. Like this it gets from the mother's secret also. (Nowadays mothers don't do this anymore and the children grow up and they are wild...) Yunus and other Saints were inspired by Haqq. People don't know anymore the difference between head and feet. And not everyone will be a head. And if all were heads, there would be still differences, because some heads would be empty... Nobody is like another one. There is learned and not learned, teacher and pupil, knower and ignorant. You cannot mix everything. Milk has a cream and water, not everything is cream. Without milk no cream, but the cream swims on top. That is a lesson. The Prophet was sent to an ignorant nation. Nowadays knowledge is available and they think they are so learned people- but they don't understand the meaning of that knowledge. Who says the Shahada means to say that he turned his face toward Allah, and he doesn't turn his face toward anyone else again afterwards.

5755 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: MeaningOfShahada
So every Juma there is a divine invitation for Allahs servants. The angels announce: ,The One Who is the Malik-ul-Mulk, Allah dhul Jalal, is inviting His servants for a divine invitation to the Dar-ul-Salam'. If we wanted to speak about this event, we needed one week to describe the Saltanate and its beauties... And every invitation has another Tajalli and different kinds of beauty. Everyone is received according to his rank. I was invited by several Sultans and at their tables on every chair there was a name. People are seated according to their rank, and it is like this in the divine invitation also. Then Allah provides food and clothes...Then Allah is showing His perfection to the believers, whose faces are shining like suns when they look to Him. For someones only a little bit of light is opened, because they would get burned. They only reached a certain level during their life on earth and they cannot carry more light. If they were given more it would burn their fuses... When Jamal and Jalal, the beauty and perfection of Allah, are opened to the servants, they cannot turn their faces away... So the meaning of the Shahada is to turn one's face toward Allah and to make a distance to Shaitan- to cut the ties that bind one to him, so that he cannot approach anymore. That is the meaning of the Shahada. To say 'Audhu bi-llahi mina shaitani rajim' reminds us of this, so that Shaitan is not getting hopeful of us again. When he tries to approach, saying 'Audhu...' seperates us from him. Who can say this over a period of 4o days, Shaitan lets go of him and he tells his followers not to approach you anymore, because there is no hope that they can influence you anymore. After that Shaitan comes every 4o days again to check if he may do something or not. And when you say: ,Are you there again? Audhu bi-llahi mina shaitani rajim!', he escapes...Saying the Shahada means to recognize Allah's lordship and our servanthood- to recognize Him alone, to live for Him and work for

Him...One cannot feed ones ego and be Allah's servant at the same time... Let it rain, ya Allah, and make also soft the hearts of people... O Allah, prepare our hearts for the meeting with Mehdi a.s.. Send him and his soldiers- it is enough! May the Sultanate of Shaitan be destroyed and S.Mehdi come. Lefke - 06.12.2001

My master, our shaykh, the Shaykh of Shaykhs, Sultan al-Awliya `AbdAllah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani, His Holiness, Allah made me to be in his association for around 40 years, alhamdulillah, without stopping. He would always say whenever he wanted to begin suhbat, “Our tariqah is based on association and the good is in the gathering.” These words were carried down from the Arch-intercessor of created beings, Shah Bahauddin Naqshband (q), and he took that precious jewel from the Presence of the Prophet (s) when the

Prophet said, “Religion is advice.” This is the manner which all our noble predecessors of the imams of the Naqshbandiyya kept, and in the same manner all other tariqahs since the beginning up to now. Man is in need of training/discipline. Without discipline he has no value and no weight, neither in this life or the next. But when Allah made them leaders of calling to Truth, all of them were making association with Allah’s servants. Now nasiha, advice, indicates officiality, but association makes the servants become companions to the Prophet (s). An advice is official, but suhbat, association, advises the servant, particularly when he may feel very distant from him (s). Therefore, the Prophet (s) gave advice to the common people and gave suhbat in his gatherings, which were not “official.” O Shaykh Hisham Effendi! Familiarity between persons will make each companion feel integrated, whereas in the official type of talk he cannot get close. Therefore suhbat makes the servant of Allah feel close to the one giving advice. That is the meaning of suhbat. All of the noble Sahaba were often in association with the Prophet (s) until they felt that familiarity with him. The Prophet (s) said, “Religion is nasiha, advice” and because the awliyaaullah are inheritors of the Prophet (s), they choose familiarity and closeness, so that when they held an association the servants would feel that familiarity and become joyous. How many people came to the presence of the Prophet (a), and he ordered them based on the characteristics in which they were dressed. It is the character of prophets to deliver their message, but those who were able to become familiar with the spirituality of the Prophet (s) were those who sat with him, and however many did not reach that level took from the official instructions and advice. Our Naqshbandi masters, and specifically Sayyidina Shah Naqshband (q) used to say, “Our way is association. Keep familiarity.” So as “religion is advice,” all the awliyaaullah that composed our tariqah also spoke from that ocean, advising, that our tariqah is suhbat. Suhbat brings familiarity between two persons, then the inheritors of Prophet (s) used that familiarity to be servants with the Muhammadan inheritor. So if “the way is association,” there is no officiality there. In Islam officiality is a danger, both in the proximity to kings or in familiarity with the Prophet (s), as he said, “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” We are not deserving nor able, but we are imitating. Men are inspired (during suhbat); in their gathering it

5759 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: MeaningOfSuhbah
will be light, not heavy; whereas officiality is heavy, association is light. In official gatherings, the Prophet (s) used official words, but in the time when they sat together for making closeness of hearts, there used to descend, on the basis of the levels of the hearts of those present and the listeners, something mulasfah, which they would study there and which would make their hearts closer to each other. And the intent is to make the hearts of al-insaan (Mankind) and insaan al-quloob, men (people) of hearts, inside the heart of the Prophet (s)! SultaanAllah! Subhaanallah! And we say, a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem, with the intent that Allah makes us far from the association of Shaytan. I seek refuge in Allah: don’t come near, neither Shaytan nor those representing Shaytan! Allah said, “And don’t approach that forbidden tree,” and Shaytan was outside. In the case of our father, Sayyidina Adam (a), and our mother, Sayyidatuna Hawa, that was a divine matter, where Allah (swt) said: wa laa taqrabaa hadhihi ’sh-shajarata. Do not (you two) approach this tree. (Surat al-Baqara, 2:35) So every affair that Allah made to His servant from that tree was due to coming close and yantarid, “Do not approach this tree,” and there is no power and no might except with Allah the Almighty. “Do not approach this tree!” Suhbat makes the servant awake and aware all the time, and in it is an indication of, “Do not approach the tree of your ego.” In the reality of every human being there is spirituality and ego is striving hard to overcome the servant, and to make the servant approach that tree which is forbidden, and to make the servant break his oath and commitment. A`ad `adoo laka nafasak allatee bayna jambayk. “The most dangerous enemy is your ego that is between your two sides.” (al-Bayhaqi) That means, don’t look here or there outside yourself, but your enemy is your own self. SubhaanAllahi l-`Aliyyi ’l-`Azheem. Qul, Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem! The Prophet (s) said, “Halaal is

manifest and haraam is manifest.” Is there any doubt there? Halaal is clear and haraam is clear: there is no doubt. Those people all the time accuse people of shirk. Didn't they hear the Prophet (s) say that halaal is clear and haraam is clear? Didn't the Prophet (s) clarify things? He is the one who brought Shari`atullah, the firm law, from Allah (swt). (Mawlana says when you are in the presence of Prophet in his maqaam, you feel Allah's Presence and you praise the owner of that maqaam.) How do they accuse people of committing shirk when they do that, when Prophet said, “Halaal is clear.” Let's clarify the meaning of shirk. This is an introduction of that topic and inspiration we are receiving we will speak in order to clarify this for the ummah. Those who are ignorant or against the kernel of realities are blind in both worlds, and there is no importance or value for their words! Those who work against Allah's law, Allah's anger descends on them. When you look at their faces you see darkness and ugliness; they make people run away from them and there is no familiarity on their faces. The Prophet (s) said, “Ask for favors from those with beautiful faces.” Ugly faces you should stay away from. Forgiveness, O my Lord! Fatihah. Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: Mashaa-Allah, what a great tafseer for the meaning of “suhbah.” Amazing! Mawlana Shaykh Nazim: This is your barakah, Shaykh Hisham. It’s coming from you. Mawlana Shaykh Hisham: Your face is beautiful and familiar; your name should be “Anees” (kind, beautiful) because you make everyone happy. You should open a dargah there. Mashaa-Allah, beautiful suhbah. This should be an introduction in every book you arrange as no one understands that suhbah is familiarity with the shaykh and tariqah is to be serious and to struggle on the path. Meded: Asking Support from Grandsheikh
Our Grandsheikh is Sheikh Abdullah Al-Faiz Ad-Daghistani, may Allah Almighty sanctify his blessed soul and draw him ever closer to His Divine Presence. May He Almighty cause us to benefit from Grandsheikh's blessings and teachings, and from his spiritual care for us even from the grave. We derive our spiritual power from his heart center. If he cuts us off we are stranded. Every breath that our Grandsheikh turns toward us from his spiritual breaths is like a warm spring breeze which blows on the bare branches of trees, causing buds and blossoms to burst forth. Like the spring breeze that carries the revival of life within it, so do the breaths of Allah’s saints give life to their followers, to their spiritual sons and daughters. That relationship is stronger than the relationship to our parents, as there is only a short period of time in which they are all and everything to their small children, and, ultimately it is very difficult for them to influence their children to follow the way of life that they would choose for them. But a real Grandsheikh always keeps a watchful eye on his followers, whether that Grandsheikh be living in this world, or has already has passed on to the existence beyond. He never abandons them. Yes, we are always seeking our Grandsheikh’s support, support that will help us act according to our Lord’s

commands, and support to help us stand firmly in the face of our enemies; the lower self, Satan, vain desires and worldliness. Without such a strong support a person will be vanquished. Therefore we seek our Grandsheikh’s support by saying; “Meded ya Sayyidi,” – “Support, oh my Master”. You must call upon your Grandsheikh in such a manner when you are in need of support, then that support may reach you. The more you feel yourself to be weak and in need of support, the more support he will extend to you. But the more you depend on your own knowledge and your mind’s powers, the less support you will receive as Grandsheikh will say; “He is self sufficient, so why lend him support. Leave him in the hands of his ego.” When the Holy Prophet asked his Lord, “Oh my Lord, don’t leave me in the hands of my ego even for a moment,” he was seeking refuge from two undesirable possibilities; 1) to be left in the hands of his ego’s base desires, and 2) to be left alone to guide himself only by his mind and knowledge. In both these ways the ego attempts to separate us from true guidance, and in admitting our weakness and seeking support in the face of the ego’s trickery we gain that help. Therefore you must look for the support of the Saints in a universe in which you are totally weak. Once you have established a good connection with such a person you will always be in contact with him; a “wire” will carry current to your heart from his power source. That aid will make itself felt most in times of need. Now it is daytime and you don’t seek a torch, no need; but at night such a small light will prevent you from falling into a pit. 01.07.1983

The True Meaning of "Suhbah" and its Importance
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, laa ilaha illa-Llah. Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahi ‘l-hamd. Madad, ya Rijaalullah. Thumma as–salaat was salaam `ala Sayyid al-Awwaleen wa ’l-Akhireen, shukur ya Rabb, shukr lil-Llahi, an ja`lanee min ummati Habeebihi (s) Thumma as-salaat wa ’s-salaam `alaa saa’iri ’l-anbiyaa wa ’l-mursaleen, w’alhamdullilahi rabbi ’l-`alameen. Praise and peace upon Prophet Muhammad (s), and upon all prophets and messengers. All praise is for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Madad, ya rijaalAllah. Sayyidee wa mawlay, shaykhuna, shaykh ul-mashaykh Sultan al-Awliya `AbdAllah al- Faiz ad-Daghestani Hazretleri, Allah Jalla wa `ala ja`alanee an akoon fee suhbatihi nahwa arb`eena `aaman.

Men are inspired (during suhbat); in their gathering it

will be light, not heavy; whereas officiality is heavy, association is light.
