(Qur’ān 17:01).
‘‘Subĥāna Al-Ladhī 'Asrá Bi`abdihi Laylāan Mina Al-Masjidi Al-Ĥarāmi 'Ilá Al-Masjidi Al-'Aqşá Al-Ladhī Bāraknā Ĥawlahu Linuriyahu Min 'Āyātinā ۚ 'Innahu Huwa As-Samī`u Al-Basir’’

‘’Glorified (and Exalted) be He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.’ Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is showing and telling us about one of the greatest miracles of our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, the miracle of Isrā’ wa-l-Mi‘rāj in sūrat al-Isrā’.

It is the sign for the infinity of power of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla who is Subḥān. No one is called Subḥān apart from Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. It shows His جل جلاله greatness, as He جل جلاله showed many things on that night to our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. In order to show the greatness of the maqām of our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to people and in order to take him صلى الله عليه وسلم to the highest rank in His جل جلاله presence on that night, it is told to us in Qur‘ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Shān.

Laylatul Isrā’ wa-l-Mi‘rāj is a great night. It happens on the 27th of Rajab. That night is a holy night. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla made that night blessed for the honor of our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to his صلى الله عليه وسلم ummah.

The night is a holy night. What shall we do on the holy night? What we can do is; many people have missed prayers. They can do goodness and charity as well. That will be more accepted on that night. Because the gifts Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gave to our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم are not only until qiyāmah, they are eternal.

People who want to benefit from them can do so. But certainly, shayṭān doesn't like this. And people who are like shayṭān don't like this. They call it bid‘ah. They say “Don't do it. Don't gather and celebrate.” When our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم says, “Gather and be in jamā‘ah. Be united”, why shouldn't we gather? Why shouldn't we make dhikr of Allāh جل جلاله? We are not gathering in an assembly for Ma La Ya’ni (useless things). We are gathering for the pleasure of Allāh جل جلاله. We are gathering for mentioning our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. We are gathering to remember him صلى الله عليه وسلم, to make ṣalawāt صل. This beatiful miracle of our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is the means for it. It is a very big miracle that mankind had not seen such a miracle until that time.

First one is the journey that's called Isrā’ of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam from Makkah to Quds. When he صلى الله عليه وسلم went from Makkah to Quds Sharīf, our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم travelled on Burāq with Sayyidinā Jibrīl ‘alayhi s-salām. Burāq is the flying animal. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla created it especially for our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. “We reached one place firstly”, says our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. Jibrīl ‘alayhi s- salām had stopped Burāq and told our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to pray two rakāt there. Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam asked “What is it here?” “Here is Yathrib.” Yathrib was Madīnah; it was called Yathrib before. He صلى الله عليه وسلم asked him again later. He said it was Madyan. They had landed on the place of Ṣāliḥ ‘alayhi s-salām or Shu‘ayb ‘alayhi s-salām. Madyan is a place in Jordan. They prayed two rakāt there as well and and landed somewhere else again. They prayed two rakāt there as well. It was Bethlehem, the place where Īsā ‘alayhi s-salām was born. Then they reached Quds. All the Prophets of all times had gathered in Quds. He صلى الله عليه وسلم was imām for them and prayed two rakāt together with them. This is the first miracle on earth.

The second one is a higher and a greater miracle when he ascended to heavens . That is called Mi’raj . He صلى الله عليه وسلم visited seven layers of heavens. And he صلى الله عليه وسلم found different manifestation on each level meeting different Prophets. After the seventh heaven, he صلى الله عليه وسلم reached Sidratu l-Muntahā, the presence of Allāh ‘Azza wa- Jalla. How it was is known only to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. We cannot know what Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla knows. And we can't comprehend how it was. That is his biggest miracle. These miracles are such that if you count in years, it requires not a million but a billion years. He صلى الله عليه وسلم travelled everywhere, paradise and hell, all heavens.

And he صلى الله عليه وسلم did all of that in one night. Not even a night but in two hours. According to our time, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla granted these things in two hours.

And as a gift to our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, praying five times a day was given by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. It is the greatest and most valuable gift. People don't appreciate it. They are looking for ways to escape it and how not to do it. Whereas they don't realize what a valuable gift it is from Allāh ‘Azza wa- Jalla. Allāh جل جلاله who created the whole universe has given you a gift. He جل جلاله has given this to us for the honor of our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

And there are many other gifts. But this is what is known: prayer and two last ayāt of Sūratu l-Baqarah: Āmana r-Rasūlu. They were given by Allāh ‘Azza wa- Jalla not by revelation but directly to our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa- sallam. And this night is a holy night. May Allāh جل جلاله bless it.

In shā’a Llāh these calamities upon the ummah will lighten. May He جل جلاله send us the Ṣāhib so that the Ṣāhib brings people to the right way. Everyone, Muslim and
non-Muslim, is in hardship now. Therefore, these troubles can only be - Mankind has tried all ways, good and bad, clean and dirty. But now humanity will be relieved only with the ruling and balance of Mahdī ‘alayhi s-salām. Otherwise, they are not going to be at ease.

May Allāh جل جلاله send us Ṣāhib as soon as possible for the honor of this holy night insha’Allah.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
