LADDER TO THE MOON and the LADDER FROM THE MOON

It is a very important point that Grandsheikh Abdullah will speak upon tonight. I say that Grandsheikh will speak because the Awliya are living real lives; they are living stars, not dead stars; they are living persons even after their disappearance from bodily life. When they leave this world and go to heavenly life, they leave behind them a deputy whom they cause to speak on their behalf; therefore, when I speak here, my Grandsheikh is speaking through me – making me speak on behalf of him. For this reason, I said that he is going to speak on an important point. Grandsheikh was saying that a great Wali (saint) and lover of the Prophet, Ibn Omar Es-Safadi, was saying: “If a person leaves everything and abstains from action, saying that he need not act because he trusts in his Lord and that his Lord is sufficient for him and will provide what His servant is in need of, then that person has become an unrighteous and sinful person.” Here Grandsheikh is clarifying the real relationship between the servant and his Lord, saying: “There is a certain distance which servants must advance, and only when that distance has been covered and its limit crossed, that servant may say, ‘From here on I

5089 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: LadderToTheMoon

leave everything to my Lord and from this point on I entrust all my affairs to my Lord!’ ” For example, a farmer plows his field and plants corn, then he leaves it and has the right to just wait until the harvest yields, but if a person is not plowing and not planting, but just saying, “I am trusting in my Lord to give me corn at harvest time”, he is indeed far astray in his thinking and actions. You must be aware of your duty and carry it out. You can’t bring rain, you can’t force the corn to grow and bring forth cobs, but you can plan and plow – then you can trust in your Lord to finish what you have begun. This is what true trust in Allah (Tawakkul) is like. This is a very important point, and one often misunderstood, especially in European countries, where people raise objections to Islam, claiming that Islam tells people that they need not work, and should depend only on their Lord’s favours. In the present time even in the Muslim world, the younger generation is saying that Islam is the cause for the backwardness of their countries – but this is the result of wrong understanding. In fact, what Islam tells us is that we may begin a work with our own action, but it is Allah who completes, and that the success of any endeavor is ultimately in His Hands. This is a world of causes. We are in need of causes and must hold on to them in this life, because miraculous doings may occur sometimes for Prophets and Saints, but not for everyone. For that reason we have been ordered by our Prophet Muhammad (sal), to hold to causes so that we may witness effects and obtain results. Allah Almighty says that no one reaches anything in this world without acting – he must act and see the results. So, to act is a command from Allah Almighty and therefore we must not just sit down without movement and without action. Trusting in Allah, or leaving your affairs to Allah, is correct only after we have finished our duty. Sometimes in Tariqats, Sheikhs may try a murid by ordering him to abandon every cause, to not seek his own means of existence. But such cases are only rare exceptions and not the general rule – the general rule is to seek means, as Allah commands.

Why was our Grandsheikh speaking upon this point? He is not mentioning it here in the context of worldly works, or actions for this life, but rather he is referring to effort required of us for reaching heavenly stations and Divine Knowledge Oceans. You must strive and do good actions as much as you can, and when you finish, after doing your utmost, Allah Almighty will lift you up. If you are asking for heavenly stations and miraculous powers, you must first struggle and not just say, “Allah may give us,” or, “My action is not sufficient for me to reach such heavenly stations.” A good analogy to illustrate this point is this one: Someone was given a broken pick and spade and was told: “Take these instruments and dig up all seven layers of the Earth until you reach the end where you will find your treasure.” Do you think that it is possible to reach it with a broken pick and spade? - Of course not, but despite this you must dig as best as you can and not give up, saying, “How can I perform this feat?” Your duty is to dig little by little, and your Lord is looking after you so that when He sees that you are firmly believing and working as ordered, He will send His Help just as you have reached the point of exhaustion and can’t do more. At that time He will send a huge machine that will dig up your treasures for you instantly and effortlessly. Because you are a powerless servant carrying out His order, He will bring your treasure up for you with His power, not yours. He is only testing you: are you listening, believing, and obeying? If you begin, He will finish, but if you say, “It is impossible for even the largest machines – so how shall I ever do it?”, you will be banned from the Divine Presence. If you begin your digging in spite of the obvious impossibility of the task, then Allah’s Holy Verse in the Qur’an will apply to you: “Allah does not burden anyone beyond his capabilities.” We are not claiming that we will attain all heavenly stations as a result of our practices; we are only doing what our power enables us to do and, in reality, to reach the goal by means of our practices is like trying to reach the moon with a ladder; even if all the world’s ladders were tied together you couldn’t reach it – its impossible; but

5091 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: LadderToTheMoon

we must try anyway, for perhaps one night from the moon there will descend a ladder to meet our ladder, and at that time it may be possible to go up, but for us to build up to the moon – never. We must do our duty. Allah says that doing our duty is the cause of our reaching to Heavens, but you must know that it is not enough. We know that ladders go up, but not to the moon. This is the precise meaning of Tariqat, and we are not cheating people: if one is working with sincerity, our Lord may send a ladder at any time from the moon to take you up, but you must do your work, and trust in your Lord. Many people are reading in books about miraculous happenings, and sometimes our ego asks for us to be one of these ‘miracle-makers’. Tariqat is the way to be able to perform miracles, but we are not working in order to be able to do such things, but only for our Lord’s pleasure. When He is pleased with us, He will also make us pleased with Him, and at that time you won’t be able to even look at or consider miraculous doings; it is only your ego asking to perform such feats. Our Grandsheikh is saying at the end of this lecture: “I am speaking on behalf of the Master of the Time, Seyyedina Al-Mahdi, because he is not yet permitted to appear and address people directly; therefore, I have been given permission in his stead. When he appears you will witness how he speaks.” Grandsheikh continued: “This assembly has the same virtues as the assembly of Seyyedina Al-Mahdi, and holds the same reward. This knowledge is not the result of reading books, but come directly from the heart of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sal). Allah Almighty gives this knowledge to those who trust in Him and keep His orders with full respect."

LAYLAT AL QADR the NIGHT OF POWER Nights are the time which Allah Almighty has designated for the attainment of spiritual blessing and power. Therefore Allah Almighty told His Beloved Muhammad (sal) in the Holy Quran: "O you, who are wrapped up in your mantle, rise (to pray) by night except a little: half the night, or a little less or a little more and with measured tone recite the Quran”. (Surah Muzammil S 73, V 1-3) Allah ordered Prophet Muhammad (sal) to spend most of the night in worship in order to prepare his heart for the tremendous revelation of the Holy Quran. This night worship was the means for the Prophet Muhammad (sal) to ascend and to attain more and more power. His Companions would join him for the night prayer and would also be rising up in station and spirituality: “We are about to address to you words of great gravity. Verily the rising by night is (the time) when impression is strongest and speech more certain”.(Surah Muzammil: S 73, V 4-5) Laylat al Qadr is a holy night. All nights of Ramadan are holy nights but Laylat al Qadr is the holiest night of this holy month. It is also the holiest night among all other holy nights throughout the entire year. It comes only once a year and Allah Almighty granted this holy night, the Night of Power to His most praised, most respected and most beloved servant Seyyidina Muhammad (sal).. About this night, Allah, the Glorious and Exalted said: "In the name of God, the Beneficent the Merciful Indeed We sent it [the Holy Quran] down on the Night of Power.

What will convey to you what the Night of Power is like! Better is the Night of Power than a thousand months In that Night the angels and the Spirit descend by the permission of their Lord for every affair. Peace it is, till the break of dawn." (Surah Al Qadr). " The Night of Power" is a very strange translation for "Laylat al-Qadr," but it attributes to it a good meaning. Whoever attains the blessings of this holy night should attain perfect power in his spiritual life. One can attain perfect power by means of this night because its value is more than one thousand months of worshipping. Every worship performed increases the spiritual power of people. Any worship during this night is going to be valued at one thousand months of worshipping done on any other night. It is condensed power. Allah Almighty, makes it a mighty night by placing in it such incredible power, so as to make it very much mightier night than other nights. Allah Almighty says it is much more valuable than one thousand months of worshipping. It means Allah Almighty has granted such a huge power to this night of Lailat ul Qadr. It is such a mighty night that it is highly respected and given such high value by the Lord Almighty. It is so mighty that it is said that it is the mightiest night, the Night of Power. Allah Almighty has put into this night, power for His servants to come closer to His Divine Presence. In a short time that great power adorns the worshippers in this night so that they may be able to penetrate through the entire heavens and reach the Divine Presence. People on this night are going to be on several different levels. No doubt we are on the lowest level, so we are hoping in this night to attain the honour and illumination granted in it. When we reach a higher level and as it is a holy night in the heavens as well, we will begin to sense something [of the great power being manifested] on this night. Whoever is at the highest spiritual level must be present for this night in the Divine Presence of the Lord. This appearance will occur in a matter of seconds, maybe within a single second. Perhaps one second is an enormous unit of time [in keeping with that moment or in comparison] to that

http://www.sufismus-online.de/LailatAlQadr (2 von 4)04.07.2013 23:23:18

5094 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: LailatAlQadr

moment. It may be more than a second or much less, but it is an instant in time when an appearance from the Divine Presence is manifested to creation. When that Divine Appearance manifests (tajalli), no one will remain standing throughout the heavens and the earth. Everything falls into prostration, throwing itself down in prostration for that moment. That manifestation of Divine Power--that Divine Light-appears, and whoever is prepared and who has also been invited to attend that appearance sees it and falls in prostration. Everything in that moment falls in prostration (sajda): all animals- ants, elephants, giraffes and even dogs-on that night they do not sleep but are hurrying to make prostration on experiencing that divine manifestation. All trees- even buildings-bow down in prostration and then rise up to their original positions. This is mentioned in the Quran: “And unto Allah falleth prostrate whosoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, as do their shadows in the morning and the evening hours”.( Surah ar-R`ad, 15) "Hast thou not seen that unto Allah payeth adoration whatsover is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the hills, and the trees, and the beasts, and many of mankind, while there are many unto whom the doom is justly due”. (Surah al-Hajj, 18) May God forgive us because we are sinners. Every few minutes, or even every few seconds we commit so many sins, thus we are asking for our Lord's forgiveness for the honour of His Most Praised Servant Seyyidina Muhammad (sal). This holiest of nights is granted to him from his Lord Almighty Allah. In it all powers adorn him, all lights illuminate him and all angels come to him. The Archangel Gabriel comes to him, and he is dressed with countless honours on this holy night. The angels ask forgiveness [from Allah for the people] for the sake of the master of humanity (Seyyid al Bashar), from the Owner of creation (Rabb al-Ka'inat). For his honour, may Allah forgive us and take away our bad states. May Allah change our conditions from bad to good and change everything in us to be for His Sake. May we be good servants, obedient servants, beloved servants, respected servants and praised servants. Try to be servants such as this. For that reason, attend humbly to worshipduring this night as our Beloved Prophet (sal) has

directed us. "Whosoever offers voluntary prayers during the Night of Power out of belief and expecting from Allah its reward will have his past sins forgiven." [Bukhari and Muslim] Now I would like to pray the Prayer of Tasbih (salat ul-tasabih) to express a little bit of praising from our side and to glorify our Lord Almighty Allah. This glorifying of Allah Almighty in salat ul- tasabih consists of four cycles of prayer (raka'ats) in which we glorify our Lord 300 times by saying "Glory be to Allah, Praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is theGreatest!" (Subhana Allahi wal hamdulillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wa Allahu Akbar ). May Allah Almighty glorify His beloved and most praised servant, Seyyidina Muhammad (sal), and may mercy from His endless mercy oceans descend on you, and on our descendents, and ancestors, upon east and west, and may its blessing come upon all from North to South, upon all oceans and upon all continents. Allah Allah...Karim Allah...Aziz Allah...Subhan Allah...Sultan Allah, Oh our Lord, You are the only Sultan. Raise up Your Work and bring down the work of destructive disbelief and evil which seeks to harm Your human beings and all other creations by means of a destined appointed and authorized sultan from your Divine Presence.

The first of deeds is to send salaat was-salaam upon the Lord of the First and Last, on this noble day of Allah, on the first night of Rajab al-murajjab, and He named it Rajab, where Rajab is the month of Allah. O People! O Attenders! Isma`oo, give your ears for listening and understanding. Dastoor, yaa Rijaalullah.

Madad yaa awliyaaullah, madad yaa Rijaali ‘l-Malakoot,amidoona bi madadikum nahnoo `ibaad d`u`afa `ibaadullah. Huwa al-Qawiyy wa nahnoo da`eef. Huwa Rabbunaa! He is our Creator, Allah! (Mawlana Shaykh stands) Subhaan sen, Sultaan sen, yaa Rabb! You are our Creator, from pre-Eternal up to Eternal. (Mawlana Shaykh sits) It is a holy day and we must give high respect for this holy month, Rajab. Try to give as much as possible your highest respect. We are just reaching the first night of Rajab, the first Friday night, and it is narrated that the holy light from Malakoot, Heavens, just reached from his father (r) to his holy mum, Aminah (r). (In this holy night) Heavens and Earth are covered with heavenly lights and everyone is dressed in a grand uniform in which angels were never dressed before as Allah Almighty never makes a copy, no! Last year was different and this year is according to the heavenly appearance. Everyone in Heavens is dressed in a holy dressing of Heavens. When I say “holy” it is nothing compared to the holiness of Heavens! They are just dressed, Huuu. “Oh, what is happening?” they ask. It is the night of the holy soul of the Seal of all Creation (s), when the mother of the Seal of Prophets (r) took his holy trust. That is too much, the biggest grant from Heavens! It reached his mother and all Heavens were decorated with a dressing of honor. Every year it repeats, and every year comes another dressing from Heavens for heavenly people. The souls of those from the Children of Adam on Earth who reach that holy night are also dressed. Therefore, all heavenly people and all beloved ones, through the Beloved One (s), have each been granted something different, each is different. Not all the same like soldiers dressed in uniforms. No, it is not a uniform; that heavenly dress is for every year, for celebration of the Seal of Prophet's (s) holy spirit. That which reaches the Earth is like an atom. Can't carry, all of Creation can't carry it. No one knows the real being of the Seal of Prophets (s) except his Lord, Allah Almighty. It is so big, azamatli, a glorified light! But now people are asleep; they are drunk ones. O our Lord! Save our real beings from being drunk (or involved) with this nonsense, as really we have been created for some glorified being that has not yet reached us. Had it reached, this world could not carry it! That celebration is in Heavens. One spot comes on Earth, where they are dressed also with that dharrah, an atom. Everyone that night will run to perform sajda, because they can’t carry that Heavenly Lights Ocean; not

5098 Maulana Sheikh Nazim: LailatulRaghaib

even one atom can they carry of that glorified ocean! One spot they can’t carry in this world; it disappears. One spot may take that entire world, even billions of them, and swallow them, taking their heavenly honors. O our Lord! O our Lord! They never understand. They call on You, asking from You to know about that heavenly one who represents You for all Eternity (s), because no one can carry the Real Being of Allah Almighty, it is impossible, just as you can't look at the sun with the naked eye (as it will burn). Subhaan man dawaraka, subhaan man sawwarik, subhaana man nawwarik thumma idha shaa kawwarak, Yaa Allah! Glory be to the One who brought you around in your turn; Glory be to He who gave you resplendent light; Glory be to He who when He willed, made you a sphere, O Allah! That is nothing in front of what Allah Almighty is dressing His servants on Earth and in Heavens, and through unknown oceans of His Divine Dominions! O People! We are wasting our short lives with nonsense. Whatever you are collecting you are leaving. We may collect like Qaroon (Croesus), but when he died this Earth swallowed his imitated being endlessly! May Allah forgive us. O People! Don't run after this dunya as it and its treasures are kicked down (worthless) by the holy ones appointed on this planet to arrange everything for the Children of Adam. People are running to schools, high schools, universities, and academies, and then (their education is) finished; they only reach the levels of preliminary, secondary, college, university, and academy teaching. After five levels what is there? It stops after five or six levels of knowledge. No one knows; numbers are finishing from one up to six. (Mawlana Shaykh stands) Allah (swt) is saying... they did not give Allah His due Power and Greatness! (Mawlana Shaykh sits) It is impossible, impossible, impossible to know, as we are on the lowest level of Allah Almighty's Glory and Being! Why are you wasting time on this dunya? We think we are created for dunya, and night and day we run after it, but for what? O Human Beings! What are heaps of gold or jewels giving you? O drunk Mankind! All of us are running after dunya, but for what? Day by day we are approaching the door by which we are getting out (death). No one is staying (here on Earth); they leave, and the angels say, "Prepare yourselves for when you will get out." That

last station approaches and will take you from this life to unknown worlds, unknown continents, unknown territories. What are you doing (to prepare)? Why are you fighting? You are fighting for titles that you give each other, but there is no value in that. Why are you fighting, killing, and giving trouble to each other? O People! (Follow) Shari`atullah, the holy divine rules, as His judgment will collect all of you no-mind people will be put in a mental house! All of you are living for your imaginations, because no one knows what will happen after one hour, one week, or one year. They live in their imaginations, dreaming. We are dreaming, and not like this (with eyes closed), but we are wide-eyed! And they are asking to run on (what they imagine). O People! Through East and West, use your minds and your powers for something that is going to be forever, not for imaginings. Leave your imaginations. Don't quarrel, don't fight, but try to be servants. Try to keep your oath to your Creator, the Lord of Heavens. Try as much as possible to keep it, and to give your highest efforts to understand from what you have been created. Why are you using (violence)? For what crisis? ardullahi wasi`a, “Allah's Earth is spacious.” The whole world is so big for all of you; for what are you quarreling and fighting? Even animals are not fighting; they do not say, "This is only for me, not for you." Also, the Children of Adam have been granted an understanding, a heavenly grant that has not been given to anyone else. O People! Come to an understanding within yourself or you may be taken from this world, which will be so empty, and no one will be left to say, "I have this, I have that." No! Everyone can live from your Creator, Who never created Man in a narrow place! (But instead you amass) a supply, but you will never become happy to collect everything on Earth! I may give to him the authority to collect (amass) all WCs. I give that power to them; go and collect that! Do you understand? Say to Qadafi (in Libya), to Mubarak (in Egypt), to Bashar (in Syria), say to Iran, to Turks, “If you are not happy with the toilets you collect, I give them to you for free, so go and collect them!” That is kalimat al-haqq, the true word. No one can reject it, not from east to west, from all `ulama, not even Christian or Jewish `ulama! No one can object! From east to west I am giving to them free, clean. O People! Use your minds; we must think on it. They are making me speak in a most simple way, although they are able to make me to speak on the highest level of every language, but it is not necessary. If people are asking to be collectors of WCs, why should we speak at the highest level of Arabic, English, or Turkish?

The donkey eats and defecates on itself, it will even defecate on its rider. If kings ride it, the donkey says, "I am more than you. This is for me. Everywhere I may go and no one ask me about my title!" For donkeys there are no titles. He is very happy, as everywhere he goes he eats freely, with no responsibility! Now people will be at the level of animals, saying, "We haven't any responsibility." Must you put a tail to learn you have a responsibility for your brothers? May Allah forgive us! Yaa Rabbee, yaa Rabbee, yaa Allah! Forgive us and send us someone who may direct us and send us to our targets, to make our Lord happy with us. When our Lord is happy with us all of you will be happy, and when you are not making your Lord happy, nothing will give you happiness. Then eating, drinking, dancing, everything will come from your ego, but you will not be happy because our Lord Almighty gives us enjoyment; nothing else can give it to us. You must understand, because people are running from east to west but no one is happy. Make your Lord happy with you, then He will grant you a sweet, happy life. Otherwise, your life is going to be poisoned. P
